Had the opportunity to present at Pediatric Grand Rounds today on the dangers of high-powered magnets! Glad I got to bring light to this important issue! #MagnetSaftey
Here is some key info:🧵
I've been thinking about compassion and pediatricians.
There's an idea that pediatricians are "softer" than internal medicine docs because we take care of kids. And kids are cute! Funny! Sticky! 1/
Here’s the Chest X-Ray of a young girl suffering from a condition that is now the #1 cause of death in children and adolescents in the U.S.
What’s the diagnosis?
Congratulations to all the future pediatricians who matched today! We are so proud to announce our intern class! #futurepedsresidents @WUSTLPeds We can’t wait to meet you this June!
I'm devastated by the school shooting at Central VPA in St. Louis. Pediatricians & HCWs were prepared for this tragedy because elected officials repeatedly fail to prevent it. Firearms are the #1 cause of death in US children.@ThisIsOurLane#STLStrong#PhysiciansForGunControl
As pediatricians we will continue to advocate fiercely for our patients, the care that they deserve, and for the prevention of future tragedies. Our kids deserve childhoods without this trauma.
My heart goes out to the victims and their families. I’m deeply saddened by the effects this will have on the children of my community. I am proud of my colleagues who cared for victims today.
During this historically busy respiratory viral season, we are reminded how lucky we are to work with residents like senior Callie Marshall, MD (@MarshCallowMD) and the yellow team @AltintasBurakMD @SusanMorand @BenMalamet Thanks for taking great care of kids and one other!
Dr. Ben Malamet! It is such an honor and a privilege to become a physician, and am so thankful for my wonderful friends, family, and mentors who have gotten me to where I am today!
So many amazing meetings for #IBDinDC today advocating for the Safe Step Act and Medical Nutrition Equity Act! Got to round out my day with my representative and IBD advocate @RepAndyLevin as well as @CrohnsColitisFn President Michael Osso!
