@MateyYanakiev This was more common in the east where the Scriptures were translated into local languages. They didn’t have full Bibles like we have now, but many people had the 4 gospels at least, then maybe after that the Psalter, the Torah or St. Paul’s epistles.
“Salvation is communal: it is not individual. ... We come into the Church not as isolated individuals: we come with our families, with our nation, with our culture. Sanctify and transfigure your culture! There are many good things in this country.”
—Fr. Roman Braga (1922-2015)
@thaddeusthought Again, not sure that Fr. Stephen needs to be as rigid as he is in presenting this, but it's really interesting to re-read these passages and consider if they are in fact referring to Christ and not just the written text.
"The century of the 'Church of Immigrants' has ended; the century of evangelization has begun."
"Orthodoxy's mission is no longer primarily geographical but EXISTENTIAL."
Met. Saba
@TexasRose1836@Orthodox_cross It just means a really long time. Also, the Chalcedonian schism was kind of a big deal too that affected a lot of people and countries, so I think the theory breaks down.
@orthobro@nepsisblog@PatristicNectar Exactly, there are certain syllables that give it away.
I understand why people do it, cheap and fast, but as someone who works in the industry, it’s disappointing. Not that different than buying AI icons or bootlegging ebooks instead of supporting the publishers.
@orthobro@nepsisblog@PatristicNectar Listening to a sample, it sounds like it definitely could be AI. Disappointing if so. Sometimes the cadence being off could just be from an over-zealous editor, but there are parts that definitely strike me as AI.
@OrthodoxPole81@desertcynic I love Fr. Stephen, but the canon for the Sunday of the Holy Forefathers honors Samson. I believe there’s other hymns as well. That’s enough for me.
🚨 The ROCOR Synod in Munich has released their official statement regarding preparing the canonization of Fr. Seraphim Rose.
“The Council of Bishops has blessed the process of preparing his ecclesiastical glorification among the ranks of our venerable Fathers.”
