At #CAP23 Residents Forum I had the honor of speaking about building and leveraging your #pathologist community

This is truly about relationships. It is about putting your best self out in the world and not expecting anything in return. It’s about what you can give and not what you gain - and what I have found is that this can lead to the building of an immensely valuable community 🤝

There are many ways (and places) perforative relationships and unsuccessful networking happen, and these, sadly, can happen anywhere (at institutions, meetings, in person, and online) - Do we stop building communities in our lives because some superficial interactions don’t work out? Do we sit in silos and start letting negative voices win in real life? No, we don’t. We try to put good in the world and hope for the best.

Yes, some of our communities lead to us high-fiving each others successes and cheering each other on - an echo chamber of positivity — What would we rather have? People hating on each other or cheering each other on? The answer, to me, is pretty simple.

The choice of what communities you build, my friends, is all yours (ours) - don’t listen to the haters and build (and invest in) communities as you choose!
