@AnsweringRCs@ReformedToRome Would you admit the possibility that Protestants are incorrect about the canon? This isn’t a gotcha question, I don’t think admitting uncertainty about the canon disproves Protestantism. But I do think you have to have at least some uncertainty.
@TradVat2 I’m pretty sure St Thomas More would not be in favor of cutting down the rules of evidence because a moron on Twitter (not you, the guy Cranky Federalist is qting) doesn’t understand them.
@08468293462967a@RumelianNostos@kunley_drukpa The captain of the Belgrano rejected the idea that it was a war crime. You can honor men who died in the service of their country without libeling the other side.
I cannot express how much I dislike the St. Michael Prayer after Mass. it is so, so jarring to me every time.
To say nothing of the intent/content of the prayer, the language, and repetition and prominence given to it breed a sense of paranoia and cynicism. Instead of going out to evangelize the world, everyone is ready to go to war with it.
This prayer is totally fine in private devotion. It does not belong in the liturgy (or effectively within the liturgy, when it is said after the final blessing but before the recessional hymn)
There are good criticisms to make of the SSPX but those who predict the Society will someday go the Old Catholic route and ordain women or something are making a faulty comparison and are being a bit uncharitable imo.
To be more specific - I think they are trying to be obedient to the Faith in a way that is not entirely correct but which does protect them from certain errors. Including errors that one can find among plenty of Catholics in full communion and good standing in the Church.
@Olinobnizov@SlowpokeCon@shagbark_hick Of course there is a crisis. But that doesn’t mean that the SSPX is correct in identifying the scope of that crisis nor that its actions in response to the crisis are good.
@putins78916@shagbark_hick@InternetAsylum If genuine Catholicism can only be found in the SSPX then Catholicism is probably just false. It’s vastly more likely that the Eastern Orthodox are right.
