Nobody should be digging for change or stressing over parking fees when they’re at the hospital.
That’s why, starting May 1, parking will be free at all Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health facilities.
This change means less stress for patients, families, and healthcare workers. It’s one more way we’re making healthcare more accessible and focused on what really matters — getting people the care they need.
Some locations will have a quick validation system to make sure spaces are there for those actually visiting or working in the building. And we’re stepping up to cover the cost so hospital foundations aren’t left with a gap.
It’s a simple fix that removes a barrier and makes a real difference.

Auckland made it easier to build housing.
Wellington didn't.
Results speak for themselves:
1) People love to build
2) We make better use of space when people are allowed to build
3) Regulations get hijacked by NIMBYs
4) Something is better than nothing
5) We should solve other problems directly, not by blocking new housing
6) Community happens when you let people live
"The government is asserting a right to stash away residents of this country in foreign prisons without the semblance of due process that is the foundation of our constitutional order. " - Judge Wilkinson

My underlying intention going into 2025 was to stay grounded in an attitude of "both/and". Do we value my needs or your needs? Both. Do we value self-reliance or interdependence? Both. Unity or diversity? Both. Tradition or change? Both.
