Delighted to see my PhD paper published! Using a new assay I found a critical role for cholesterol in tau entry to the cytosol. Cholesterol removal = massive seeding. Cholesterol addition = completely blocked!
Thanks to all involved in @w_mcewan lab!

It was a pleasure to be involved in this study highlighting the importance of type-I interferons in tau pathology - check out @_sophiesanford's thread for a great summary! Congratulations to all involved!! 🎉
Excited to share my PhD work from the McEwan Lab, published today!
We found that type-I interferons exacerbate tau pathology, potentially linking upstream inflammation with downstream protein aggregation 🧠🦠:

It has been a pleasure to be part of this new super-res study published in @CellReports! Check it out to see some very cool tau microscopy🔬 Massive congratulations to all involved! 🎉🎉
I am super happy to share our new manuscript published in @CellReports ! This has been an amazing journey primarily driven by @eldimou and I am honoured that I helped the story to get here! (1/5)
I am thrilled to have been able to contribute to this important study from the Kozik lab published in @ScienceMagazine today! Massive congratulations to all involved 🥳
Very excited to share @w_mcewan labs new paper in @ScienceMagazine! I am thankful to have played a part in this story! We showed that TRIM21 is a dedicated cytosolic receptor required to neutralise tau seeds in AD models. Huge congrats to all involved!

Super interesting study, led by @w_mcewan (UK DRI at Cambridge) reveals new insight into the mechanisms underlying an experimental antibody therapy for Alzheimer's🧠
The findings could pave the way for safer and more effective immunotherapy drugs👏👉https://t.co/UbmHpO2sdQ
Delighted to be involved in this fantastic piece of work from the @patrycja_kozik lab! Pore-forming protein Perforin-2 (Mpeg1) promotes the endocytic escape of antigens in DCs, allowing for their cross-presentation (and Mpeg1 promotes tau escape too!)

It was fantastic to hear the story of the BioNTech SARS-CoV-2 mRNA Vaccine from its Co-founders Ugur Sahin and Özlem Türeci today as dual Milstein lectures at the @MRC_LMB! In 2019, production only allowed 10,000 doses of mRNA vax. Now 3 billion have been produced in a few years!
