Uganda has reached 42 days since the last confirmed imported Ebola case was discharged on 16 July 2026, with no documented onward transmission associated with the case, marking an end to the outbreak.

@WHO commends the Government of Uganda, health workers, communities and partners for the strong measures taken to contain the outbreak and prevent wider spread.

Continued vigilance remains essential as transmission continues in neighbouring areas of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, with risk of importation. WHO will continue supporting the Ministry of Health and partners as Uganda transitions from intensive emergency response to risk-based readiness.
