Yet this month, 900 ocean monitoring instruments are being physically pulled out of the water. A $368 million system. A decade to build. Designed to run 15 more years.
Gone.
This network tracked hurricane intensity, coastal flooding, marine heatwaves, and sea level rise. The data was free, public and used in over 500 scientific publications. Congress tried to stop it... twice. They got overruled anyway.
For a coastal community like FL-13 that just lived through Helene, this isn't abstract. This is the difference between an evacuation order that comes in time and one that doesn't.
Florida deserves a representative who fights for the science that protects us, not one who looks the other way while it gets dismantled.

A bipartisan majority in the House voted to rein in President Trump's lawless, profligate and blood-soaked war in Iran. Only Congress can declare war and no such declaration has been made. This is a win for the powers and the wisdom of the legislative branch.
Trump, Musk and Rubio slashed aid and scoffed that it was woke nonsense. Now they're seeing that it not only saved one life every 10 seconds but also protected us from diseases like Ebola. Their actions constituted a security failure as well as a moral one.
More broadly, their fecklessness contrasts with the courage and humanity of doctors and aid workers in Congo and Uganda, lacking adequate PPE but still risking the virus to care for fellow humans.
Trump, Musk and Rubio might learn something from them. https://t.co/kPKj7fqJFZ
While Russia bombs Ukraine and kills civilians, President Trump is bizarrelysending a delegation to a conference in Russia to discuss economic development.
I challenged Secretary Rubio today to explain why we would send any U.S. official to a such an event designed to prop up Putin's war machine.
Because of your voice on Delaney Hall, the Trump admin just released 18 yr old high school senior whose story I told. They released the pregnant women held inside. These releases show ICE isn’t targeting the violent criminals. ICE is feeling the pressure. Keep raising your voice.
Today, Sec. Mullin conceded that DHS has made numerous false statements.
That’s why independent investigations into the killings of Alex Pretti, Renee Good, & all victims of DHS's violence are necessary.
But he won't give states access to critical evidence.
What is DHS hiding?
...another morning in Ukraine, and once again, it is neither peaceful nor bright. Once again, we wake up exhausted, learning the names of the Ukrainians who were killed. What else is left for us, the civilians of this country, but to hide at night when cities face mass attacks… In Kyiv, during air raid alerts, crowds of people, along with their children and pets-seek refuge in metro stations that serve as bomb shelters. But in other cities like mine, you simply stay in your apartment, hoping for the best.
Some people underground are watching the events above ground through their phones, others are seeing the destruction from their windows. But morning has finally arrived, and it's impossible not to be grateful for it-it's just heartbreaking that this morning hasn't arrived for everyone. Is there any point in repeating "fucking russia" for the millionth time, does it even make any sense anymore...
Texans are asking the right question:
Why are we giving special treatment to AI data centers when our water future is already at risk?
The Tech Barons want Texas resources, but we’re fighting for Texans.
The next time you pull up to a national park and pay the entrance fee, know this:
Our parks have $23 billion in repairs that have never been made.
But instead of prioritizing that our national parks are clean, maintained, and ready for your next visit, the President is spending some of the money on vanity projects like painting the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool blue.

I’ve been in Odesa, Ukraine for the Black Sea Security Forum. The Ukrainian people are resilient and they’re not giving up, even in the face of attacks on civilian infrastructure. We have to continue standing with Ukraine in their fight against Vladimir Putin and Russia.
Sen. Andy Kim: "It's a choice. Delaney Hall is run by GEO Group. GEO Group is getting a nearly $1 billion contract to run Delaney Hall. They tell me there is one full-time doctor for 800 detainees. They could have more doctors if they wanted to, but that's cutting into their profits."
Texas, this is not who we are.
Upon Trump's orders, children, who have done nothing wrong, are being imprisoned in Dilley.
ICE is ignoring the Flores Agreement that says children should not be detained any longer than 20 days at the most.
Conditions are deplorable, and no one is allowed in with cameras to verify.
Thank you, Congressman Castro, for your tireless efforts to bring awareness and to advocate for these children and families.
Why is this happening? The $180 million annual contract with CoreCivic plays a large role.
What will I do about it? When I'm Lt. Governor, we will shut this monstrosity down.

On this day in 1940, the Nazis blew up the Chopin monument in Warsaw’s Łazienki Park.
They melted the remains down.
But they missed the original mould.
The statue was put back in the same spot in 1958, and is still there.

There is no world in which this is okay.
Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito did not recuse himself from cases involving Trump’s Treasury Department while his own son was secretly working there as a political appointee and attorney.
His son's employment was hidden so thoroughly that his name appears nowhere on the Treasury Department website, he has no public resume, and his bar listings are outdated.
If Alito had recused himself, the secret would have come out. He didn’t recuse himself.
This is a clear conflict of interest, and the American people deserved to know about it.
The federal recusal standard is clear: a justice must step aside in any case where there is a reasonable basis to question whether he or she can be impartial. A justice ruling on cases involving the department where his son works fails that test. The Treasury Department sits at the center of some of the biggest legal fights of this administration, and challenges to Trump’s $1.776 billion January 6 slush fund could be headed to the Court next.
The Supreme Court is the only court in America with no binding code of conduct. That is completely unacceptable, and it has to change NOW.
Congress controls the Power of the Purse, and therefore the Court’s funding. If the Court will not adopt a binding code of conduct with real recusal review on their own, I support withholding their funding until they do.

Here's what the pork industry doesn't want you to know about the way it sneaked a provision into the 2026 farm bill that would nullify ballot measures that improve animal welfare, while helping Chinese companies torture American pigs. The issue is personal to me, because we once raised pigs on our family farm, and I saw that these are not commodities but animals rather like dogs: smart with very distinct personalities. A naughty boy who punishes a single animal may be punished, but an adult who presides over the systematic abuse of hundreds of thousands of pigs as a business model is hailed as a visionary CEO -- and voters get that, and that's why they have backed laws that improve animal wellbeing. This is, remarkably, an issue that unites many liberals and conservatives alike; @TomiLahren, @Cernovich and @IngrahamAngle are among those who have been outspoken on this issue. I hope R and D members of Congress alike will stand firm, for the stakes are immense, with four pigs slaughtered around the clock on average all year. Here's a gift link to my piece: https://t.co/NWQbJK6JTc I welcome your comments.
After spending a week in Eastern Europe it is very apparent that our tardiness to meet weapons delivery commitments is undermining deterrence and encourages Russia to be more aggressive. Our defense industry must step up and expand production. We are leaving countries that border Russia with a lack of ammo. The same is occurring with Taiwan.
