I sincerely hope state colleagues can talk him out of the the educational and civic desert in which he's walking. The harm that would come from such policies would be almost unrecoverable, and it's all so unnecessary for the people of Oklahoma. We should expect much more from those leading public schooling. And yeah, I know, I'm living in Virginia, and we have our own challenges, but hoo-wee, this statement from Walters is supremely unaware and hurtful to many.

Kid scores 100% on a retest... Only given a 70%. For what possible justification do we put scores in the gradebook that do not match what a student knows?

There is no average time to learn something. Punishing students for taking longer to learn something seems archaic
