It’s clear watching Starmer’s final PMQs that the Labour Party has just made an absolutely catastrophic error, blinded by panic, afflicted by petty opportunist factionalism, and entirely disengaged from the national interest in a dangerous world.
What a huge, huge
blunder. 🤦🏻♂️
@supertanskiii That’s a bit rich. You’ve been making jokes about her being dead but now the circumstances appear to have changed suddenly it’s ****** up? No one is asking you to grieve the woman or agree with anything she stood for. Can’t people just be civil 😞
Can’t quite believe this is real - @KayBurley you should be ashamed. What on earth possessed you to say that? In the presence of an Epstein survivor no less?! You owe Lisa Phillips a personal apology. Truly disgusting.
Always had the impression Starmer went into politics, quite late in his career, out of a sense of public service rather than pure ambition. Not sure what motivates some of these other people.
The ministers urging Starmer to go are feeding the hysteria. The next leader will be subject to instant leadership speculation and the next, and the next, whether Labour, Reform or Tory. Britain is becoming ungovernable. And the media fixation on this tittle tattle is not helping
I waited 14yrs for a Labour government & these backbenchers have decided to throw it back in my face by calling on the only Labour leader to win an election since 2005 to resign. I’m disgusted with each and every single one of them including my own MP, @Tom4EWAS
People are worried about current conflicts and looming global crises. They expect their government to lead the country through, as the PM is doing.
More instability is not in Britain’s interest. Our full focus now must be on dealing with immediate economic & security challenges.
This is not a game. This instability has consequences for people’s lives. The people who will be hurt most will be those that elected us less than two years ago. We must unite behind the Prime Minister.
If Starmer is forced out, he’ll be the fifth PM in a row to last less than a full term. There are some structural issues making the job near impossible. Changing the name above the door won’t fix it.
To my Labour colleagues we criticised the Tories for chaos and division and we cannot now inflict the same on the country ourselves.
People are angry and hurt, yes. But turning inwards helps nobody. We have a King’s Speech in two days.
Calm down, unite, and get on with the job.
Hollywood continuing to mock John Davidson over his Tourette’s condition is one of the most despicable things I’ve witnessed in a long time.
Shame on @deoncole and all those in the audience who laughed at his vile ‘jokes’. What the f*ck is wrong with you???!!!
Delroy Lindo called it “a classic case of something that could be very negative becoming very positive.”
For families living with Tourette’s, this past week has not felt positive.
Since the BAFTAs and what happened with John Davidson, I have been arguing that my son deserves to leave his home and be included in society like everyone else.
I have had to explain, again and again, that Tourette’s is neurological.
That tics are involuntary.
That coprolalia is not belief, not intent, not character.
Yet the conversation keeps circling back to whether people like John, and by extension my son, should simply stay home to avoid offending anyone.
Stay home.
Remove yourself.
Do not attend events.
Do not exist publicly in case your disability makes someone uncomfortable.
That is the reality this week.
This is not abstract for me. My son already navigates anxiety and the constant fear of being misunderstood. Inclusion cannot mean only if your disability is convenient. It cannot mean you are welcome as long as you do not embarrass us.
My son deserves to leave the house.
He deserves to attend events.
He deserves to exist in public.
And I am exhausted from having to argue that basic truth.
I make no apology for posting this photo. I think it’s a photo that will haunt America in the years to come.
This is what you have become. If you defend this, have a word with yourself.
Just curious, is there ANYTHING that an ICE agent can do that Republicans will condemn as wrong? Anything at all? Or is it just automatically defend ICE no matter what now? That’s who you are?
