It’s the honour of my life to be elected as the first ever Labour MP for East Worthing and Shoreham.
Thank you for voting for me - I will work hard for the whole of our community to deliver the change we need and that we voted for.
Nice line from Sir Alex Younger's obituary:
"He was once invited to meet Mohammed bin Salman, Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and de facto ruler. A helicopter picked Younger up from one of the Gulf states and flew him to an uninhabited island off the Saudi coast. There he found Prince Mohammed sitting beneath an umbrella, with his yacht moored nearby, watching a Bond film by way of preparation for the meeting."
I’m not going to amplify Reform’s ad by sharing it, but the wilful misrepresentation of Kemi Badenoch - selectively quoting what she said about ‘white lives matter’ - is disgraceful and dangerous.
It needs to be challenged, including by those of us who are not Conservatives.
Connecting the South Downs to the North Downs, the 37 mile long Downs Link follows two disused railway lines.
Crossing the Surrey Hills, Low Weald, South Downs and Coastal Plain, the Downs Link is perfect for walkers, horse riders and cyclists.

I promised we would fix our broken railways.
Today Southern, Thameslink, Great Northern and Gatwick Express return to public ownership. Run for the public good, not private profit.
This Labour government is putting passengers first.
The Soho Society is objecting to *every* new bar/restaurant licence in what is supposed to be the centre of London’s nightlife. More planning/licensing insanity.
I asked them to come on my Sunday LBC show: "We will absolutely not be taking questions from journalists". Of course not.

As Solicitor General I deal with dozens of cases under the unduly lenient sentence scheme each week. It is a vital part of our justice system and gives victims a voice.
I am extremely pleased that the Attorney General has referred this case, clearly the right decision.
EXCLUSIVE: Reform UK’s Makerfield by-election candidate, Rob Kenyon, had a SECOND deleted social media account, and the archived posts are damning.

Something sick in the Green Party that they simply must root out.
It took too long to defeat antisemitism in Labour and it is painful to watch the Green Party do too little to tackle it amongst their own ranks.
🚨 EXCLUSIVE: Green by-election candidate Chris Kennedy shared posts on social media describing an attack on Jewish ambulances in north London as a “false flag”
When approached by The Times, he apologised for the posts and quit today citing "personal reasons"

In times of greatest peril our country has been capable of doing big things.
We still can.
Britain used to punch above its weight in the world.
We still can.
Each generation used to provide a better future for the next.
We still can.
A standout line from @wesstreeting’s resignation speech ⬇️
‘The question isn’t whether young people would fight for their country, but when their country is going to fight for them’
A real focus on the challenges of younger generations - to get on the housing ladder, to afford having children, keep up with rising rent costs etc - MPs have been saying for ages (reflected in student loan debate) that Labour has to reach out more to younger generation
We need our best players on the pitch. There is no doubt that Andy Burnham is one of them.
The Makerfield by-election will be tough. Votes will need to be earned.
Andy is the best chance of winning and that should override factional advantage or propping up one person.
At the end of the day, when I get home, I know that good people in Ilford North always have my back…

Looking forward to campaigning for Andy Burnham if he’s chosen by Makerfield Labour Party members in the upcoming by-election.
Let’s get our best players onto the pitch for the future of the country - to deliver the change voted for in 2024 and to stop Reform in 2029.
