@doctor_oxford@wesstreeting There are some aspects of dying, for some people, that no amount of palliative care is going to resolve and make life worth living? I don't mean pain. Sometimes, despite everyone's best efforts, dying is just awful. Being able to opt out of awful would give great comfort.
@FaresaverBuses why did the X85 not stop at Balustrade at about 10.29 today? It definitely wasn't full and the driver made gestures pointing behind him. The 272 two minutes later also didn't stop, may have been full.
@BlackIslePMD@RainbowNHSBadge@fakethom@j_salks@CRFertleman@RCPCHtweets I'm not speaking on behalf of Rainbow badge, for which my involvement only extended as far as wearing a badge, and generally supporting the campaign and what it stood for. I'm speaking for myself, in relation to the RCPCH work in the original tweet.
@GWRHelp why do you not have the rail replacement bus from Swindon to Chippenham and Bath listed online? When I searched the PAD to BTH 23.32 journey it said I’d arrive in Bath after 5am - but there is a bus replacement. Caused massive panic at PAD that I wouldn’t get home.

The Gaza European Hospital, in Khan Younis, the last facility providing cancer-treatment across the Strip, is now out of service after Israeli forces struck it on 13 May.
This was one of the last remaining lifelines in Gaza's shattered healthcare system. MSF-supported Nasser hospital is now the only public hospital in Khan Younis, southern Gaza. It was also hit on the same day a few hours before the Gaza European Hospital for the second time in less than two months.
People in Gaza are struggling to access lifesaving care. The remaining hospitals, mostly partially functional, are constantly overwhelmed. Repeated strikes on healthcare facilities are yet more examples of the Israeli authorities making the Strip unlivable.
@ImperialNHS you’ve just sent me a questionnaire asking how I feel about the current lockdown rules and my wellbeing during this pandemic. Maybe an admin error? Quite bizarre to receive it nearly 5 years after the time it relates to.
@wendyburn@NHSE_WTE@rcpsych Am I right in thinking that 10+ years ago there were a lot more trainees dropping out? The downwards parts, which now are horizontal?
@_oatc_@sabpNHS Good question. I don’t know, I would imagine it would depend if the other substances are smoked with tobacco. If not, then probably not. If they are, and the smoker smokes regularly enough to form some dependence, then… maybe? (Not medical advice!)
Taking a trip back to my old haunts @NCCMentalHealth today to hear the final chapters of the #QuITT Collaborative story (though not individual Trusts’ and organisations’ stories!).
@pubmentalhealth Any prescribers saying varenicline can’t be given to people with mental illness aren’t up to date with the evidence. See the RCPsych position statement here: https://t.co/ozJF2KEXJJ #QuITT
Some Trusts are struggling to have junior doctors agreeing to prescribe nicotine replacement therapy and cytosine and varenicline. How to overcome this and empower doctors to prescribe?
Leaders like @pubmentalhealth are key.
Dr Sanjay Agrawal describes the lack of support for people with serious mental illness to become smoke free as Structural Violence. “‘Inequality’ is understating the issue”. #QuITT
@PerinatalBirder@jfdwolff It wasn’t until I started working in forensic medicine that I discovered this is wrong. It’s used all the time in psychiatry.
