Sounds all nice, but what are you exactly doing?
Building a detector to measure fast electrons in some 25km height on board a @REXUSBEXUS balloon. We are a group of 5 physics students from @kieluni, ranging from Bachelor- to PHD-students, all focusing on extraterrestrial physics.
For those of you who are not physicists and might have trouble understanding what we are measuring, we will post some info about it in the next few days. #Physics#PhysEd@REXUSBEXUS
Why is it so hard to measure neutrons?
Any particle measurement needs some kind of interaction between said particle and the detector. Most detectors use electro-magnetical interactions. Since neutrons are neutral, there is no such electrical interaction with them. #physics
Our team was delighted to meet so many women at the #Rexus/#Bexus Training Week! We were able to celebrate the @UN International Day of Women and Girls in Science Day together! #Diversity is essential in #spaceengineering!
After 48 hours of delay, 3 trips to Hamburg and 2 back, 3 1-hour flights and a 45 minute drive, we finally arrived at Esrange last midnight. Definitely worth it!
In case you are near Kiel and ready to get up quite early next Monday, you can watch the start of Solar Orbiter, a spacecraft containing multiple instruments from Kiel University, live! In case you are interested: Launch could be delayed, stay up to date.
