In 5,000 exoplanets, we've found worlds similar to those in our solar system, and others, like super-Earths and mini-Neptunes, not found nearby. Many gas giants found elsewhere are in scorching orbits, with ''years'' passing in days. Terrestrial planets like Earth remain elusive.
Discovery Alert!
65 new worlds push the number of exoplanets confirmed by @NASA above 5,000. This represents 30 years of exploration and discovery by astronomers worldwide using telescopes on the ground and in space. We are living in an age of discovery! https://t.co/oOgpLesadK
Some planets are tidally locked to their stars. One side always faces its sun and is bathed in perpetual daylight; on the other side, of course, darkness never ends. Earth is lucky, every night has its day.
Set your clocks forward tonight and spring toward the light!
The planet, visible as a bright dot in the lower right of the frame (by the arrow), is 10 times as massive as Jupiter and orbits the pair of stars at 100 times the distance Jupiter orbits the Sun. The other bright dot (top right) is a background star.

We've discovered 4,935 planets beyond our solar system...so far. While we're close to 5,000, we don't want to forget all the worlds we already know: planets locked in a deep freeze, scorching planets racing around stars. Pink, blue & puffy planets too.💗

The waste of space!
We are seeking solutions to safely dispose of non-recyclable waste for future long-duration missions like sending astronauts to Mars. Learn more about the challenges: https://t.co/RFDWIhLiu1 ♻️
Towards the Sun we go! @esasolarorbiter is crossing the Earth-Sun line today, on its way to a close solar approach that will bring it to one-third the Earth-Sun distance, about 50 million km, on 26 March. See more👉 https://t.co/RTkwnRxgKT #ExploreFarther#WeAreAllSolarOrbiters
Getting a better look at a Moon rocket! 🚀🌕
