NEW POST!!! @BarryFishman writes, "If you never get started on building infrastructure, the change you desire will never happen. And infrastructure building is a collective enterprise, not an individual one." #tg2chat https://t.co/q4r1qqCpnq
"In a system that favors standardization rather than personalization, students are ahead or behind those arbitrary benchmarks for each grade every single year."

The premise of merit pay, and indeed of all rewards, is that people *could* be doing a better job but have perversely refused to do so until it’s bribed out of them.
NEW POST!!! "I began my tenth year of teaching with an uneasiness about the pandemic but also optimism about new approaches to learning. This year would forever change the way I teach." @heymrsellis#tg2chat https://t.co/iq6BQpilWO
A focus on increasing "rigor," "raising the bar," demanding "higher standards," etc. usually means teaching the same sorts of things in pretty much the same way, except now with fewer students being able to succeed.
“OMG! STANDARDIZED TESTING IS ABSOLUTELY TRAUMATIZING OUR CHILDREN! THEY WILL NEVER RECOVER! IT’S AWFUL! INHUMANE!”
Here’s the report on my kid. (With both autism and ADHD.) 🤷🏻♀️
"Going gradeless. Sounds so empowering, right? But for many, going entirely gradeless is not a possibility in their teaching contexts." @heymrsellis#tg2chat https://t.co/oFTqmmUdEu
As testing season descends once again on schools, join @SBclassroom's Emily Rinkema and @TG2Chat's @iamchiaravalli as we discuss the impact of tests and to imagine what teaching might be without them! #tg2chat https://t.co/f9kQnXz3vp
Hey @CVSDVT and #vted join us! We’ll be thinking about testing culture & its impact on Ss, Ts, & schools—and what role testing has in a standards-based, personalized system & in the schools of our future. @abuntcvu@rsanchez2012 @PeterLangella @iamchiaravalli
"Labor-based grading allows students to experience the messy process of writing. The method provides the conditions for students to embrace failure—an essential part of the writing process." @LinceAnthony #tg2chat https://t.co/qPWaKmnrbz
Don't Forget!!!
Join Will Dunn (@Willmdunn) and Aaron Blackwelder (@AaronSBlackwel1) for #TG2Chat as we explore Pointless Learning.

Labor-based grading friends, we’re soon going to be asking the great @AsaoBInoue about objections to LBG for @TG2Chat. What questions or pushback do you receive, if any?
@LinceAnthony, @Karis_M_Jones, @MrAndersonELA...anyone else? #tg2chat
