The EU-funded UNODC–UNDP regional programme on “Supporting Asian countries’ resilience to violent extremism in the digital space” is strengthening digital literacy, countering online radicalisation, and promoting rights-based prevention across Asia.
In Thailand, this includes training 60+ journalists and a digital campaign ahead of the 2026 elections that has reached 200,000 people so far.
Preventing violent extremism online requires collaboration, awareness, and sustained engagement.

Creating jobs in contexts of fragility and violence is more challenging than anywhere else.
But it's not a reason to give up.
This week at the #WBGMeetings, I reaffirmed the World Bank Group's commitment to creating jobs and expanding opportunities for all, everywhere.
Exciting new partnership launched today in Bangkok! With support from the @EU_Commission, @UNDPasiapac and @UNODC are rolling out a bold new initiative to help Asian countries tackle violent extremism in the digital space—especially for and with youth - as their world and future is so impacted.

Our Representative, @TitonMitra spoke w/@BBCWorld about the current situation in #Myanmar where urban areas were hit the hardest, leaving communities grappling w/great challenges.
"This is an absolutely devastating crisis[...] We've moved past the point of search and rescue."
An immediate recovery package is urgently needed to respond to #MyanmarEarthquake2025. This morning, I spoke with @BBCWorld’s @stevelai about the devastation. Immediate relief and rapid recovery w @UN@UNDP and partners requires full access to ALL communities affected, and this is millions of people already living near or below subsistence. Huge losses that is also a wake-up call to move to a peace settlement - a real chance to reconcile and rebuild now on more stable ground. Watch here!
Happy to share that my 2021 conference paper has now been published as a book chapter in Critical Perspectives on Refugee and Migrant Integration in Education from #bloomsbury! 🎉📖
