It is deeply unfortunate that former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti ji made a mockery of the democratic system and the constitutional framework by attempting to assume a role that neither the people nor the law have entrusted to her. Her visit to AIIMS Awantipora for a so-called review meeting is a clear overreach and reflects a complete disregard for democratic norms, constitutional propriety, and the mandate of the people.
The people of Jammu and Kashmir have spoken through the ballot box. The mandate to govern rests firmly with the elected government led by the National Conference. The PDP was decisively rejected by the electorate, and no amount of political theatrics can alter that reality.
By conducting a review of government projects without any constitutional authority, administrative responsibility, or official mandate, has not only disrespected the verdict of the people but also an unwarranted attempt to undermined the institutional framework of governance. Such actions amount to an attempt to superimpose on a system where she currently holds neither executive authority nor any official status to review, direct, or supervise government work.
This conduct exposes the growing frustration which appears unable to come to terms with the people's rejection of its politics and policies.
Democratic systems function through elected institutions and constitutional offices, not through self-appointed oversight by those who no longer hold public authority.
people expect responsible opposition, constructive politics not politics gimmicks.
