The Department of Tribal Affairs, under the leadership of Hon'ble Cabinet Minister @JavedRanaa has issued a landmark circular directing the completion of the claim verification and settlement process under the Forest Rights Act and reiterating the legal safeguards available to tribal communities.

Great and much needed initiative by Hon'ble Minister for Tribal Affairs, @JavedRanaa Sahib.
The department's circular directing the completion of verification of claims under the Forest Rights Act, including in urban areas, is a significant step toward safeguarding the rights of forest-dwelling Scheduled Tribes and other traditional forest dwellers.

Equally important is the reiteration of the legal safeguard that no eligible forest dweller can be evicted until the process of recognition and verification of claims is completed.

Hon'ble MLA Lal chowk @ahsanpardesi resolved the long-pending demand of the residents of Dalgate, a significant step forward with the tendering of the construction of a deep drain from UNO Road to the residence of Mohammad Rafiq Hajam at Sulaiman Tang, at an estimated cost of ₹43.79 lakh.

This is one of several developmental works being undertaken in the area this year as part of our commitment to improving civic infrastructure. The tendering of this vital project has brought much-needed relief to the local residents, as it will go a long way in addressing drainage issues, enhancing sanitation, and improving the overall quality of life in the locality.

Approval for Upgradation of Balhama Irrigation Canal – ₹272 Lakh Project

The approval of the upgradation of the Balhama Irrigation Canal, at an estimated cost of ₹272 lakh, marks the fulfilment of a very long-pending demand of the local residents. After years of persistent public demand, this vital project has finally seen the light of the day.

The execution of this project will provide a reliable irrigation network, ensuring adequate water supply to agricultural lands and significantly improving farming conditions in the area. It is expected to enhance agricultural productivity, strengthen the local economy, and improve the livelihoods of the people dependent on agriculture.

This landmark initiative will go a long way in resolving the irrigation issues faced by the people of Balhama and reflects a strong commitment to addressing the genuine developmental aspirations of the local population. The residents of Balhama are set to benefit immensely from this much-needed infrastructure upgrade, which will contribute to sustainable agricultural growth and long-term prosperity for the region.

On this day, we pay our rich tributes to the martyrs of 13th July 1931, whose sacrifice occupies a significant place in the history and collective memory of Jammu and Kashmir. Their courage and determination continue to inspire generations in the pursuit of justice, dignity, and democratic rights.

We bow our heads in respect to those who laid down their lives and reaffirm our commitment to the values of peace, unity, democracy, and the welfare of the people. May their sacrifices always be remembered with honour and continue to inspire us to work for a just, prosperous, and harmonious Jammu and Kashmir.

Barricades, restrictions, and barbed wires cannot diminish our love, respect, and gratitude for the Martyrs of 13th July. Their sacrifices and contributions to the people of Jammu and Kashmir cannot be erased by imposing restrictions. They were, they are, and they shall forever remain in our hearts, remembered with profound respect and eternal gratitude.
