It was an absolute honour to have a courtesy meeting with Hon’ble Governor of Chhattisgarh, Shri Ramen Deka Ji, at Kolkata today.
During this cordial interaction at the Lok Bhavan, I had the privilege of welcoming him with a floral bouquet and presenting him with a portrait of Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, the visionary composer of Vande Mataram and an auspicious memento of Maa Kali.
It was a privilege to receive a traditional artwork representing the rich tribal culture and heritage of Chhattisgarh from the Hon’ble Governor. We shared an engaging and fruitful exchange of thoughts and warm greetings.
Wishing him good health and a pleasant stay in West Bengal.

२० अगस्त का यह ऐतिहासिक दिन हमारी भाषाई और सांस्कृतिक विरासत में नेपाली भाषा के अमूल्य योगदान को नमन करने का दिन है। १९९२ में संविधान की ८वीं अनुसूची में नेपाली भाषा को मिली आधिकारिक मान्यता इस भाषा की मिठास, समृद्ध साहित्य और गौरवशाली परंपरा का सम्मान है।
पश्चिम बंगाल विविधता में एकता, सर्वधर्म समभाव और सभी भाषाओं व संस्कृतियों के सम्मान का प्रतीक रहा है। दार्जिलिंग, कलिम्पोंग, तराई और डुआर्स सहित पूरे राज्य के सामाजिक, सांस्कृतिक और सर्वांगीण विकास में हमारे नेपाली भाषी नागरिकों का योगदान अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण और सराहनीय है।

The nefarious attempt to ignite communal flames in West Bengal has failed miserably. A Public Interest Litigation filed alleging Police excess on Mosques & other Places of Worship, by forced removal of loudspeakers has been dismissed by the Hon’ble Division Bench of Calcutta High Court. The solemn order of dismissal is a harbinger of hope, peace and supremacy of the fundamental rights of citizens in West Bengal.

Deeply pained by the extremely tragic incident involving the pilgrims who lost their lives in a fire at a hotel in Tarapith; Birbhum district.
The guests staying at the hotel had come to the Temple town of Tarapith to offer prayers on the last Monday of the holy month of Shravan. Words cannot adequately express the grief I feel for the families who have lost their loved ones.

Our Police administration acted swiftly and managed to rescue a substantial number of people, but despite all efforts, the tragic loss of 8 lives could not be avoided.
The Superintendent of Police (SP), District Magistrate (DM), local MLA Shri Dhruba Saha, and Minister of State (MOS) for the Fire Department Shri Koushik Chowdhury are currently present on-site. They are closely supervising the operations and coordinating with the Government of Meghalaya and the local administration of Alipurduar to ensure that the families of the affected and the deceased receive all necessary support during this difficult hour.

The State Government has taken strict measures to find out the root cause of this tragedy. Let me assure you that those responsible will not be spared and they will be strictly punished as per law.
Also appropriate compensation for the victims will be announced in due time.
My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families.

On 16th August, 1946, our beloved Kolkata plunged into a horrific abyss of violence and bloodshed, forever etched in our collective memory as "Direct Action Day" and "The Great Calcutta Killings."
This date marks a dark and tragic chapter in our history, where communal hatred was unleashed by the then regime, claiming thousands of innocent lives.

I bow my head in solemn remembrance of all those who perished during those calamitous days. Their suffering and the magnitude of loss must never be forgotten.
Let us pledge to learn from the mistakes of the past so that we may never again witness such a horrific breakdown of humanity, fuelled by appeasement politics.

স্বাধীনতা দিবসের প্রাক্কালে কল্লোলিনী কলকাতায় পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকারের পক্ষ থেকে ‘হর ঘর তিরঙ্গা’ কর্মসূচিতে জাতীয়তাবাদী জনগণকে সঙ্গে নিয়ে এক বর্ণাঢ্য ‘তিরঙ্গা যাত্রা’ অনুষ্ঠিত হলো। দেশপ্রেম, মহান স্বাধীনতা সংগ্রামীদের আত্মত্যাগের প্রতি শ্রদ্ধা এবং জাতীয়তাবাদের চেতনাকে আরও সুদৃঢ় করতে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকারের পক্ষ থেকে ৮০ লক্ষ ত্রিবর্ণ রঞ্জিত জাতীয় পতাকা বিতরণের উদ্যোগ গ্রহণ করা হয়েছে। স্বাধীনতার ৮০তম বর্ষে পশ্চিমবঙ্গের প্রতিটি ঘরে জাতীয় পতাকা উত্তোলনের মাধ্যমে স্বাধীনতার অমর চেতনাকে আরও মহিমান্বিত করাই আমাদের একমাত্র লক্ষ্য।

Today, we observe the 84th anniversary of the historic 'Quit India' Movement of 1942.
To shatter the chains of subjugation and bring forth the Dawn of Freedom, the entire Nation rose in a single, powerful voice with the immortal cry: "Do or Die" (Karo Ya Maro).
During this monumental struggle, thousands of brave sons and daughters of our Country made the ultimate sacrifice, driven by the singular vision that future generations might breathe freely in an independent India.
On this momentous day of August 9th, I offer my deepest gratitude and heartfelt tribute to all those courageous Freedom Fighters. Their unmatched valor and supreme sacrifices form the bedrock of the free India we cherish today.

কমনওয়েলথ গেমস ২০২৬-এ প্রথম ভারতীয় হিসেবে মহিলা জুডো প্রতিযোগিতায় স্বর্ণপদক জিতে ইতিহাস গড়ার জন্য ভারতের গর্ব, ত্রিপুরার কন্যা অস্মিতা দে-কে জানাই আন্তরিক শুভেচ্ছা ও অভিনন্দন।

কমনওয়েলথ গেমসের জুডো ইভেন্টে ভারতের হয়ে প্রথম স্বর্ণপদক জিতে অস্মিতা দে এক নতুন ইতিহাস রচনা করেছেন এবং সমগ্র দেশকে গর্বিত করেছেন। তাঁর এই অসাধারণ সাফল্য শুধু ভারতের ক্রীড়াজগতের জন্যই নয়, সমগ্র বাঙালি সমাজের কাছেও অত্যন্ত গৌরবের।

সম্প্রতি পিতৃবিয়োগের বেদনা বুকে নিয়ে তিনি দেশমাতৃকার প্রতি অটুট নিষ্ঠার পরিচয় দিয়েছেন। জীবনের এক গভীর ব্যক্তিগত শোকের মধ্যেও এই অসাধারণ মানসিক দৃঢ়তা, একাগ্রতা ও দেশপ্রেম আমাদের সকলের জন্য অনুপ্রেরণা। ভারতের নারীশক্তির এই ঐতিহাসিক সাফল্য অগণিত ভারতীয়কে, বিশেষ করে আমাদের কন্যাদের, বড় স্বপ্ন দেখতে, কঠোর পরিশ্রম করতে এবং নিজের সামর্থ্যের উপর বিশ্বাস রাখতে উদ্বুদ্ধ করবে।

This landmark bill will eliminate paper leaks, restore absolute integrity to our examination system, and ensure that merit always wins over corruption. With strict punishments and Fast-track action, the Youth can now rest assured that their future is secure.

I commend the swift, coordinated and resolute action of our Law Enforcement Agencies.
In a major breakthrough, last night @KolkataPolice STF, in coordination with the Purulia District Police, successfully intercepted a major interstate drug trafficking operation.

Acting on a tip-off, a truck was intercepted on NH-18 near the Belkuri Toll Plaza under Purulia Muffasil PS. A large quantity of contraband (ganja) was recovered from a specially concealed cavity behind the driver's seat. Two escort vehicles moving from Odisha towards Asansol alongside the truck was also intercepted and 7 individuals have been detained in total.
West Bengal Govt maintains a Zero-tolerance Policy towards illegal drug trafficking and any unlawful activities that threaten the safety and well-being of our Youth and Society.
I appreciate our Police Personnel for their relentless vigilance and dedication. We will continue to root out criminal networks with an iron fist.

পশ্চিমবঙ্গে দুর্নীতির বিরুদ্ধে আপসহীন (জিরো টলারেন্স নীতি) পদক্ষেপ অব্যাহত...

ইসলামপুর পুলিশ জেলার অধীনস্থ ডালখোলা ও চোপড়া এলাকায় জাতীয় সড়ক ১২-এর ওপর এক অসাধু চক্র ট্রাক চালকদের থেকে রেডিয়াম নম্বর প্লেট ও অন্যান্য পরিষেবার নামে জোরপূর্বক ৫০০ টাকা করে আদায় করছিলো। কিছু অসৎ পুলিশ কর্মীর যোগসাজশের ফলে বলিয়ান হয়ে এই চক্র দেদার টাকা তুলেছিলো।
স্থানীয় কয়েকজন ব্যক্তিদের থেকে সুনির্দিষ্ট তথ্য পেয়ে আমি অবিলম্বে পুলিশ কে দোষীদের গ্রেপ্তার করে কড়া আইনি পদক্ষেপ নেওয়ার নির্দেশ দিয়েছিলাম।
সেই মতো পুলিশ প্রশাসন তাৎক্ষণিক ও দৃষ্টান্তমূলক পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণ করেছে।
প্রতারণা করে জোরপূর্বক টাকা আদায়ের সঙ্গে জড়িত এই অসাধু চক্রের মোট ৫ জন অপরাধীকে গ্রেপ্তার করা হয়েছে। একই সাথে কর্তব্যে গাফিলতি ও অসাধু চক্রকে প্রশ্রয় দেওয়ার অভিযোগে ৩ জন পুলিশ কর্মীকে সঙ্গে সঙ্গে বরখাস্ত ও ডিমোবিলাইজ করা হয়েছে।
রাজ্যের সমস্ত পুলিশ সুপারকে (SP) জাতীয় সড়কগুলির উপর কঠোর নজরদারি রাখতে এবং এই ধরনের অপরাধ যাতে পুনরায় কোথাও না ঘটে, তার জন্য বাহিনীকে উপযুক্ত নির্দেশিকা জারি করতে বলা হয়েছে।

আমি স্পষ্ট ভাষায় জানিয়ে দিতে চাই পশ্চিমবঙ্গে কোনো ধরনের দুর্নীতি বরদাস্ত করা হবে না। রাজ্য সরকার সর্বত্র 'জিরো টলারেন্স পলিসি' (Zero Tolerance Policy) কঠোরভাবে কার্যকর করতে বদ্ধপরিকর।
কোনো সাধারণ মানুষ, ব্যবসায়ী বা ট্রান্সপোর্টারকে অবৈধভাবে একটি পয়সাও অতিরিক্ত দিতে হবে না। যে কোনো ধরনের দুর্নীতিমূলক কার্যকলাপকে আইনের আওতায় কঠোর ভাবে দমন করা হবে এবং অপরাধীদের বিরুদ্ধে কঠোরতম আইনি ব্যবস্থা নিশ্চিত করা হবে। স্বচ্ছ ও দুর্নীতিমুক্ত প্রশাসন উপহার দিতে আমরা সর্বদা প্রতিজ্ঞাবদ্ধ।

Zero Tolerance for Corruption: No One is Above the Law

The Government of West Bengal maintains an absolute "Zero Tolerance Policy" against corruption at any level of Administration, Department or Government. Extortion and Corruption will never be tolerated under any circumstances and we are firmly committed to weeding out corrupt elements to completely cleanse our Administrative system.

# Incident & Complaint Details: Goods Carrier Truck No. JH09BA3535 (Owner: Dipak Singh, Driver: Shiva Yadav), while returning to the garage after servicing, the truck was wrongfully intercepted by Officials at the Rampur Checkpost in Paschim Bardhaman. The driver was illegally harassed and pressured for bribes and upon refusal, the vehicle was seized and an unlawful demand of ₹22,000 was raised towards a tax already abolished by the State Government.

# Action Taken - Acting swiftly on complaints of extortion and abuse of power, the Transport Department has taken immediate and decisive action.
The erring Motor Vehicle Inspectors (MVIs) posted at the Rampur Checkpost - Shri Nazimul Haque and Shri Anupam Banerjee have been placed under immediate Suspension with immediate effect under Rule 7(1)(a) of the West Bengal Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1971.
The complaints have been formally referred to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for a thorough criminal inquiry and necessary legal action.
Directives are being implemented to ensure that wrongfully detained vehicles are released and that harassment of Transporters is dealt with an iron fist.

A Stern Warning: Let this serve as a clear message to all corners of the Administration. Any Official found indulging in corruption, harassment or illegal gratification will face the strictest possible disciplinary and legal consequences. We are dedicated to ensuring a transparent, fair and corruption-free Administration.

Today marks a significant step forward for public mobility in West Bengal.
Our Department of Information Technology and Electronics (DoIT&E) has officially partnered with Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited (Bharat Taxi) to enhance our state-owned digital mobility platform; 'Yatri Sathi'.
This strategic collaboration is focused on driving innovation and improving the overall commuter experience through several key initiatives:

# Enhanced Service & Access: Through co-branding and platform interoperability, users will gain better access to mobility services, with both Yatri Sathi and Bharat Taxi features integrated to serve the Public more effectively.

# Driver Welfare: A core objective of this MoU is to support our hardworking Driver Community by extending Cooperative Membership and Welfare schemes to eligible Yatri Sathi partners.

# Future Growth: We are working together to expand our service footprint to include Bike Taxi and Auto-rickshaw options across the state.

We remain committed to leveraging technology to create a more efficient, inclusive and reliable transportation network for the People of West Bengal.
