We need another name. I don’t think we ever had a system. Once there was a loose confederation of interests and abilities, but now it’s just a free for all.
I no longer bat an eye when patients say they tried to get into their doc but they couldn’t, they’re sorry they’re in the ER.
They all say the same thing, ‘the next appointment was in X weeks and I couldn’t wait that long.
I don’t blame the PCPs much, the payors pay them on a production model, so holding open slots for ‘maybes’ is a losing deal.

Anyway, we need a new name.
