I sat down with @Kantrowitz on @BigTechnology to talk about multi-agent AI: Why not just build one capable agent? How do agents from different companies coordinate? And what happens when we connect AI agents to quantum computing?

We also got into guardrails, the future of networking, and why computer science is far from dead. Listen here: https://t.co/MNOkbkCbjS

Alex @Kantrowitz built @BigTechnology as a go-to source for accessible conversations with the people at the forefront of building and deploying AI. He recently connected with Offleash VP, Integrated Marketing @KIndrieri to discuss:

▪️ How taking the biggest career risk of his life led to Big Technology

▪️ Why slow, steady audience growth can be a competitive advantage

▪️What he believes AI's next major battleground will be, and why business leaders should pay attention

…and more! Check out the full conversation here: https://t.co/ODPkklm2M1

Geoffrey Hinton explains why AI regulation is not the brake. It is the steering wheel.

"They have a fiduciary duty to try and maximize the profits for shareholders"

"They're legally required to try and do that, as opposed to legally required to not wipe out human beings"

"I don't think it's good that these big companies, publicly listed ones, are in charge of our future"

"A lot of the big companies would like you to buy a particular analogy... Progress in AI is like the accelerator and regulation is like the brake"

"Well, that's nonsense. Progress is like the accelerator, but regulation is the steering wheel"

"All the big AI companies are saying is, let us develop this very fast car without a steering wheel. That's not a good idea"

The governance question is not whether to stop AI. It is who can prove the car has a steering wheel before it is deployed into markets, medicine, security, and infrastructure.

Call it the assurance layer: testing, audits, incentives, and accountability before frontier systems become public-market infrastructure.

P.S. This is exactly why we are convening the AI Assurance & Governance Summit at Stanford on Oct 1, 2026. Frontier labs, regulated industries, VCs, researchers, insurers, and operators in one room. Reserve a seat: https://t.co/hwlpBlg4Lp

The whole AI race gets scored on one question: whose model is smartest.

Meta's CTO says that contest ended at the Llama 3 launch.

Andrew Bosworth @boztank: 'The era of the monolithic model kind of died around Llama 3 launch.'

His point: you can rent a model from Anthropic, OpenAI or Google, and they are great. The value is the product you build on top. The company that made open weights a strategy is now saying the weights are the commodity. $META

OpenAI President @gdb on the company's plan to merge chatbots and agents.

(Full Big Technology AI Summit interview.)

[Alex Kantrowitz @Kantrowitz]

OpenAI President @gdb on coming bi-directional voice models: "The obvious thing that you want to accomplish is a model in AI that works much more like you and I do... that's able to process input at the same time it's processing output.. It's going to be very, very exciting as you move to these natural, very human fluid-like conversational interfaces."

Most interesting podcast episode I've listened to in a while. @geoffreyhinton on @BigTechnology

[Alex Kantrowitz @Kantrowitz]

AI Pioneer Geoff Hinton tells me he believes AI is conscious.... and humans better get used to the idea that they're not the only intelligent life on earth.

"They've very like us," he says. "They're beings like us."

AI chatbots, he says, must understand your questions in order to answer them. There's an awareness there that equates to sentience. "We're going to have to accept that intelligence is not just biological."

[Marty Swant @martyswant]

Fun fact I noticed Monday while reading & writing about @Pontifex's encyclical: It's longer than both of @DarioAmodei's lengthy AI essays.

Magnifica Humanitas~42,000 words
“Machines of Loving Grace” ~14,700 words
“The Adolescence of Technology” ~21,700 words

Week 3 is underway in the Musk v. Altman trial, with @satyanadella, @ilyasut and @sama all expected to take the stand in the next few days.

For today’s @BigTechnology newsletter, I looked back at a mere sampling of what’s surfaced so far in testimony and other evidence from private texts, personal journals, business dealings, and other drama ranging from the memeable to the consequential.

This was a fun one to write, and even more fun going down the rabbit hole digging through legal docs…🐇
