@urbit CLI doesn't have to be hard. Look at tops20 once you know how the completions work. ? anywhere to show possibilities, esc to give you completion and next step. There's more to explore along those lines, it just hasn't been done. I find a good CLI easier than a GUI myself,
@urbit@sarlev_@tloncorporation@ps@mdfang Honestly, this is one of those where good accessibility could help sighted people too. Why, out of curiosity, was it made like this? I'm guessing at the time it was the easiest to implement?
@urbit@sarlev_@tloncorporation@ps@mdfang There was probably a better way, but now I know more than I did, so... If anyone does want to poke it, I just changed that one flag, but would be happy to :treaty|publish that desk for someone who doesn't want to go through the process. It won't overwrite the normal %webterm
@urbit@sarlev_@tloncorporation@ps@mdfang Ok, simple fix. If you set screenReaderMode: true in the config for xterm.js, it works. I rebuilt, reglobbed, tested it on my comet, and published and deployed to my planet. I (finally) was able to get my moon. LOL.
@urbit@sarlev_@tloncorporation@ps@mdfang BTW, I absolutely do *not* mean to stomp on y'all or your work. I hope my tone isn't coming across like that. I'm frustrated at the ridiculous barrier, and not at you. I'd love, though, to help test core apps/changes so people using accessibility tools aren't excluded in future.
@urbit@sarlev_@tloncorporation@ps@mdfang I'm very stubborn, LOL. I'm going to try modifying something in webterm's glob. If it works, I'll of coursa publish a desk/pr.
@urbit@sarlev_@tloncorporation@ps It's ok. :)
I have webterm, but can't read it. So I was able to get %mcp installed with that command, it just... Didn't like me. LOL. If the output of webterm was accessible to a screen reader (and it's just text, so it really should be) I could just to |moon and be done with it.
@urbit@sarlev_@tloncorporation@ps Webterm is totally inaccessible to a screenreader, which is apparently why I was advised to run %mcp on the planet. So I installed it, and told it to give me the result of |moon and this is what happened...
@sarlev_@urbit@tloncorporation I've been trying that, and so far Claude has read and attempted to understand the MCP server by reading it remotely, verified urbit crypto and how @ps work, attempted to generate and register its own moon, and more, all because I told it to run |moon on my planet ... help?
@urbit@tloncorporation Ah, ok. Some of it is groups and messaging, but ultimately it's the whole UI. The web terminal, for instance, doesn't expose either input or output to a screen reader, which considering it's just text...
@urbit What's the best place to carry on this conversation meaningfully? I would suggest a group in landscape, I even have one, but getting around and performing actions using a screen reader is a problem. Urbit in a terminal is fine, Urbit's webterm I can't even figure out how to open.
@vxunderground IMHO if you find a problem, you should offer a solution, not just walk away. A proper security researcher should have enough technical knowledge to do that. That's just common courtesy.
