Multiple reasons for buyback over dividend.
1) Canadian withholding tax on divy and none on buyback.
2) who would a divy attract? Issue for institutional is otc and s1, not a divy
3) divy becomes a commitment and buybacks are more flexible
4) if you model equity cost of capital to be in the high teens, buy the stock back! A divy makes no sense.
5) why do a divy now when you can use dry powder for m&a, and the small divy argument doesn't work - then why do it?
@cmarttrades At this stage, stock buybacks offers more for less. That's the right move. Especially if you want institutional capital. A dive here would make me question quality of mgmt.
@TradetheAction Retail base. Myopic views on trading news flow vs fundamental shifts. Lack of sell side coverage. Thin float. Lull period in news flow and impatient investors looking for the next catalyst.
How about 4x evitda and S3...change happens fast when it does.
For it to scale that quickly, those writing checks were big boys who understood the risks of the strategy. Just because you can get 4x leverage on an AI focused "hedged" booked, doesn't mean you should operate like that- and the transparency reports should have exposed that to its investors. Or worse, its SMAs had daily visibility and were fine riding this last two years. So why blame the primes who were just the medium. The culprit lies in the fund doc disclosures and whether the risks were disclosed, and if they were, it's on the investors.
Similarly, if you’re working from home full-time and don’t have a dedicated office space, you shouldn’t be working from home full-time.
Nobody can do deep work from their kitchen table. And nobody wants you taking zoom calls from your couch.
If you have kids, you probably can’t even do hybrid well without your own dedicated room.
Funny thing is people have been acting as their own portfolio manager with uplistings, problem with that approach is that the lower tier is more levered to upside should we have a big rally. Today shows. Inverse is true too.
Good analogy is what runs on a market inflection. Shitcos and small cap first, then large cap. I expect MSOs to rhyme.
@jamiecampbell@LukeNiforatos Schedule I: heroin, LSD, MDMA, mescaline/peyote, methaqualone.
Schedule III: buprenorphine, ketamine, steroids and testosterone, codeine combos.
Hmm. On a RELATIVE basis, where does MJ fit- isn't that the standard!?
Good discourse.
On 1) you misjudged naivety with perspective. where do you think funds from enforcement comes from? The regulated market. Tax and enforce, push regulations and move sales into the light not the dark.
I don't know where you get your data that illegal significantly increased where there were legal markets. Can you provide a few sources, which is easy if all data points show that.
2) I don't understand your point or what you're saying. But I'm for age gated regulated markets, not the hemp loophole.
On your last point, the regulated market will definitely age gate and not because of "hear" but because they got the DEA knocking anytime.
Why is this snip only a few seconds long. You're framing this without context. If you provided the full context, the reasonable person would identify that the problem is parental education. Isn't it being intellectually dishonest and doesn't that conflict with the integrity of your altruistic principles?

I don't mind the wait. I know people want clarity now but you're sort of indirectly getting that as time passes and medical cannabis companies are relying on DEA registration. As more time passes and the body of evidence upon reliance gets stronger, the likelihood of a stay gets lesser. So take your time!
