As a journalist, I have had to listen to boring Museveni speeches for 13 years, and as an MP for 15 years and because I am invited on TVs and radios, this burden is not about to go away. Immagine this afternoon he is wondering why Ugandans go for kyeyo in Dubai which Amin gave food during his reign. According to the 2024 population census, 20 million of the 46 million Ugandans are food insecure, 5.6 million homes still sleeping in one room house, 28 million people using firewood as main source of energy and 14 million people about 31% of the population don’t have two sets of clothes. The economy he has built for 41 years cannot employ 1.7 million people with degrees, diplomas and certificates!
BREAKING: Massive protests are underway in Nanyuki against the proposed Ebola station.
I fully support and stand with the residents.
Ebola is one of the deadliest diseases in the world. If anything ever goes wrong, ordinary Kenyans would bear the consequences. We must all support them
In 1977, when Britain broke diplomatic relations with Uganda, Idi-Amin declared he had defeated the British and added "CBE" (Conqueror of the British Empire) to his title.
Radio Uganda then announced his entire title:
"His Excellency, President for Life, Field Marshal Alhaji Doctor Idi Amin Dada, VC, DSO, MC, CBE, Lord of All the Beasts of the Earth and Fishes of the Seas and Conqueror of the British Empire in Africa in General and Uganda in Particular."
On this day in 2011, the State unleashed untold terror on Dr Kizza Besigye at the height of the Walk to Work protests.
Security forces intercepted Dr Besigye at the Mulago roundabout and one Gilbert Arineitwe Bwana smashed his car windows with a pistol, and doused Besigye with pepper spray at point-blank that nearly blinded him.
Bwana then roughed Besigye up and bundled him into a police pickup truck like a street thief.
After the brutal incident, Gilbert Bwana’s life turned upside down.
His wife left him, attempted to become a pastor but failed, he was admitted into Butabika Hospital over mental illness, and he battled several court cases, including rape, aggravated trafficking in persons, domestic violence, among others.
