@CMJulieWon@LaGuardiaCC Yes let’s get @LaGuardiaCC students the works: #OpenStreets, protected bike lanes, public plazas. This would all create a true campus like environment & be a boon to safety on, from & to campus. I am so happy you are championing this. The student pop up plaza day was amazing.
Please read the letter we wrote to the Department of Transportation to improve and create safe green spaces around @LaGuardiaCC's campus.
Our students deserve safe public spaces near campus!
Certainly hope it’s not true.
But we’ve been asking @NYC_DOT to make it safe to #Bike2Laguardia on both 49th and Skillman Aves.
Help us out and sign our petition: https://t.co/FOSW6XxGqI
“It’s about environmental justice and ensuring that low income and minority communities get the outdoor space that they deserve and need. Our students deserve it but our community does too” says @LaGuardiaCC Student María Fonseca

I didn’t have a lot of time to take a lot of video and pictures yesterday but this was my favorite moment at @LaGuardiaCC’s pop up plaza on 29th street.
“Working with our electeds and @NYC_DOT we can turn this street into a beautiful public space not just for our students but for students of the many nearby high schools” says @LaGuardiaCC President Adams
“So many of us who have gone to school in our city have not had that campus life, for networking, relationships, finding your spouse… we need that space” says @CMJulieWon “I will work everyone to make sure [the transformation of 29th street] gets done”
“We need to make it permanent @NYC_DOT! And we’re going to work to do that. Reclaiming streets is so important for mental health and safety. We are 1000% on board” says @QnsBPRichards also
announcing $1.5M additional funding for @LaGuardiaCC
“@LaGuardiaCC students don’t really get to mingle as much as they would if we had the green space on campus…
Outdoor classes, gatherings and events — we don’t have a space to do that at all.” https://t.co/4egBik5V5T @TransAlt@CMJulieWon@DRichardsQNS
Joined @laguardiacc’s Pop Up Plaza Event to support @NYC_DOT open street for LAGCC Campus. CUNY students & high school students deserve to have access to safe, outdoor spaces as part of their campus experience. We’ll also be partnering to build a protected &connected bike network
It’s Pop-up Plaza Day at @LaGuardiaCC!!! Students are out enjoying the campus life they’ll have if @NYC_DOT makes this permanent. @TransAlt Queens is here with students who want to @Bike2LaGuardia but can’t because the streets around the school are too dangerous.
So inspired by the @LaGuardiaCC students today! They’re determined to make it safe to @Bike2LaGuardia. They’re gathering petition signatures and getting it done! #Bike2LGCC#BikeQNS
Recently, @LIRR installed jersey barriers on Borden Ave while they complete a project.
@NYC_DOT hope you’re studying this because there’s clearly enough room for a two-way protected #bikeNYC lane, parking on both sides of the street, and 2 travel lanes.
Nearly 90% of our residents do not drive to work, by closing down the pedestrian and cyclist access to the Queensborough bridge we are cutting off affordable access to Manhattan. This is discriminatory to those who cannot afford a car, (1/2)
