Is the AI stock market a bubble?
My latest @Forbes piece argues today's market may be expensive, but it doesn't look much like the dot-com era. Strong earnings growth, rising profitability, and a closer look at CAPE tell a different story.

Earnings season starts before earnings season.
Q3 pre-announcements often provide the market's first clues about shifting demand, margin trends, and management confidence. In my latest @Forbes article, I discuss how investors can separate opportunity from risk.

Rising Treasury yields are back in the spotlight.
I joined @ElizabethNeoCNA on @ChannelNewsAsia Asia First to discuss what higher U.S. Treasury yields could mean for markets, investors, and the economy, including the impact on stock valuations, borrowing costs, and growth expectations.
I also enjoyed continuing the conversation on CNA938 with Hairianto Diman and Susan Ng. I always appreciate the radio format because it provides an opportunity to dig deeper into the issues and explore the nuances behind the headlines.
Many thanks to Liz, Hairianto, and Susan for the thoughtful discussions. Special thanks to Blanche Lim and Sharlyne Soh for their outstanding work behind the scenes in making both appearances possible.
Always a pleasure to share Glenview Trust's perspective with audiences around the world.
My segment begins at the 18:18 mark:

Enjoyed joining @YahooFinance to discuss Warren Buffett's legacy, Berkshire Hathaway's leadership transition, and the company's outlook.
I've attended Berkshire meetings for more than 20 years, and I still believe Buffett will go down as the greatest investor of all time.
Thanks to everyone at Yahoo Finance, especially Daniel Nelson, @tsmith1110, and Cheyenne Reid, for all the work behind the scenes that makes these conversations possible.

The Fed raised rates.
Most investors ask: "Is that bad for stocks?"
History says the answer is more complicated.
Stocks often stumble after the first hike, but they've still finished higher in 86% of Fed tightening cycles since 1954. Meanwhile, longer-term bonds have generally faced headwinds as yields rise.

The Federal Reserve meets this week, and the data increasingly point toward a rate hike.
While corporate profits, capital spending, and the labor market remain remarkably resilient, inflation remains stuck above the Fed's 2% target. Recent core inflation readings offered little evidence of the sustained progress policymakers have been seeking.
In my latest Forbes article, I explore:
• Why inflation remains the key variable for the Fed
• What the latest CPI and PCE data are signaling
• Why markets are already pricing in a September hike
• What higher rates could mean for stocks, bonds, and Treasury yields
• Why a rate increase could actually strengthen the Fed's credibility
My view: the bigger story may not be the rate hike itself, but what it signals about the Fed's determination to restore price stability and the underlying resilience of the U.S. economy.

Most great fortunes are built through concentration.
But while concentration can create wealth, diversification often helps preserve it.
In my latest @Forbes article, I discuss how families can balance compound growth, taxes, concentrated stock risk, and the risk of ruin.
The goal: don’t risk what you need to gain what you don’t.

Good to be back on @CNBC's @asiasquawkbox with @cnbcSri and @MandyCNBC. Thanks to Isabella Lok for making it happen.
While today's jobs report was stronger than expected, I'm still focused on next week's inflation data. My view hasn't changed: the inflation trend is likely to carry more weight than any single employment report as the Fed considers its next move.

Kevin Warsh's first Jackson Hole speech as Fed Chair raised the odds of a September rate hike from 36% to 58%.
But Warsh's most important message may have been this: focus on the data, not forward guidance.
I examine: • Inflation trends • Corporate profits • AI-driven capex • Labor markets • What it means for stocks

Highest Treasury yields since 2007.
A worsening fiscal outlook.
Growing concern in the bond market.
Sounds bearish.
Yet recession odds remain low and stocks are still near all-time highs.
In my latest @Forbes article, I explain why rising Treasury yields are a warning sign worth watching, but not yet a reason to abandon stocks.

Berkshire's 13F revealed a much bigger Alphabet bet than investors previously knew.
The earlier disclosed $10B Alphabet investment wasn't the whole story.
Berkshire added ~20M more Alphabet shares in Q2, growing the position to $36.6B and making it Berkshire's 3rd-largest holding. It also became a net buyer of stocks for the first time in 14 quarters.

For years, Berkshire Hathaway investors focused on Warren Buffett's next move. Increasingly, they're focused on Greg Abel's.
Strong earnings, stock buybacks, acquisitions, and a return to net stock purchases suggest the market is gaining confidence in Berkshire's next chapter.

Berkshire Hathaway isn't just talking about value. It's buying it.
The combination of strong operating earnings, a $4.5B buyback, and a return to net stock purchases suggests Greg Abel is putting Berkshire's massive cash hoard to work. According to my calculations Berkshire kept buying back its shares in July to the tune of another roughly $3.5 billion.
Appreciate @YunLi626 including my comments in this @CNBC piece.
