After the initially flurry, Liverpool have lost the tactical battle and have been pinned in by this terrible Chelsea team under an inexperienced interim coach, at Anfield. The coach is pretty obviously a dead man walking due to his out of possession principles.
Not having this discourse that the Premier League’s physical and mental exertions mean conservative football has to be a given when we’ve actually experienced the opposite. The style is absolutely a choice.
Manchester City and Liverpool were involved in the most exacting, no-margin-for-error title races but still played ridiculously good football. Pochettino’s Tottenham were a marvel too.
The 2018-19 Champions League was one for the ages:
Tottenham 4-4 Man City quarter-final
The Spurs 3-3 Ajax semi
CORNER TAKEN QUICKLY in the most insane comeback
What about the intensity of that LFC-MCFC quarter-final in 2017-18? And Liverpool beating Roma SEVEN! - SIX! in the semis.
2021-22: Chelsea 4-5 Real Madrid, Benfica 4-6 Liverpool, City 5-6 Real Madrid
The list goes on.
For so long it was held against both PSG and Bayern that they wilted when it mattered in the Champions League because their domestic seasons were a walkover. They didn’t have tough games to prime them. We can’t pick and choose narratives when it suits.
We know that trophies are what count and we will do everything possible to make that happen next season. Our fans deserve it and we will fight like hell.

3 *legendary level* seasons in 2017/18, 2021/22 & 2024/25 with 5 other world class seasons in between. His 2024/25 season was the best ever season from a PL attacker. He came as a lightning quick winger then became an all-round creative & goalscoring monster. Mo Salah = greatness.
Nigeria cannot go back to the days when innocent lives are threatened by explosions in our cities. Our prayers are with the people of Maiduguri. May Allah defeat these terrorists and restore peace to our land. 🤲🏻💔
Rehabilitating these terrorist is one of the worst initiative by the FG! You can never rehabilitate a criminal who derives joy in killing innocent people!
After the bomb blast in Maiduguri this evening, the reality is once again staring everyone in the face. It’s unbelievable that in 2026, ordinary citizens are still forced to live with the constant fear of being blown up at any moment.
The truth is that this is not just a tragedy it is a failure of governance. The Nigeria government has repeatedly promised security, yet people continue to suffer the consequences of weak protection, poor intelligence coordination, and years of neglected security reforms. Citizens should not have to wake up every day wondering if they will survive a trip to the market or their own neighborhood.
When bomb blasts become part of daily life, it shows how badly the system has failed the people it is supposed to protect. The government must be held accountable for allowing insecurity to persist while ordinary Nigerians keep paying the price with their lives.
I want to thank National Security Advisor @NuhuRibadu for a productive and positive conversation with the US Congressional delegation to Nigeria.
There were concrete steps and actions discussed at length, that if fully executed, I believe will enhance security across the country for all Nigerians, disrupt and destroy terrorist organizations in the northeast and stop the killing of Christians (a specific concern for @POTUS and myself) - particularly in the Middle Belt of the country.
I want to thank the Nigerian government and @officialABAT for rescuing the 100 innocent and precious Catholic school children. This is a positive demonstration of the government’s increasing response to the security situation and shows commitment to the emergency declaration laid out by President Tinubu.
The US’ sense of urgency on our concerns was positively received. I feel that a cooperative security framework is within sight. The now established joint task force between Nigeria and the US is a great example.
It is clear that there is an openness and willingness on the part of the Nigerian government to work with the United States to tackle these critical issues. Now, that openness has to translate to concrete action.
There is much work still to be done, but things are moving in the right direction. I look forward to the next steps with Nigerian government and the continued open dialogue.
Peace be with you all. God bless the great people of Nigeria.
