Why is #GC26 important?
- This is the first time the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child has explicitly confirmed the #children’s right to a #clean, healthy and sustainable #environment,
- The #GC26 sets the tone on how to interpret Member States’ obligations under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, and expectations to ensure that children are at the centre of climate change action.
In a normal administration heads would roll after something like this.
1. Who is behind this aborted Statutory instrument?
2. Nick Mangwana was clearly aware and hence his defence of the SI. But then he has been underwhelming in this role.
3. There is a sense of a free for all in @edmnangagwa’s government because the centre can’t hold
4. Sectors ring fenced by the SI point to politically connected criminal cartels.
5. This SI would have enabled looting on steroids
6. Find the people who drafted the Sl and fire them. Then round up their handlers in the cartels.
7. The public must have a full explanation of what exactly happened.
8. Taxation without accountability is illegitimate
Mining should have linkages with other sectors of the economy so that its sustainable and productive. Mineral resources are finite. They get depleted, therefore communities must consider alternative linkages in other sectors. Says @FMaguwu@CNRG_ZIM Executive Director
