@MizoChris You're not wrong, but I think back to the index release, a quality that kept people from budging and a user base dead set on competing against social media giants.
Soldering is best learned up close, watching an expert's hands. Now everyone has a chance to try it.
Together with @imperialeee at Imperial College London, we captured a full soldering masterclass and processed it into 4D Gaussian Splatting-based content for students. Anyone can watch it in a VR headset or on 2D devices.
The class covers the basic techniques required to hand-solder surface-mount and through-hole components on printed circuit boards (PCBs).
It was a real co-design effort: we planned the capture together with the Imperial team, positioning cameras so that every fine detail stays visible from any angle, down to the tip of the soldering iron.
Thank you to May Tang (Teaching Laboratory Technician), Tanmay Lad (PhD Candidate in Bioelectronics), and Dr Adrià Junyent-Ferré (Associate Professor in Power Electronics) for this collaboration.
Try learning soldering via the Gracia app in XR or in the Gracia store on the web.
Back in April this post inspired me to start experimenting with splatting in VRC, so I wanna share what I've been occasionally working on since.🧵
In my experiments I mostly focused on getting high fidelity results and seeing if I could streamline the process.
We've been quiet on X. That's about to change (hopefully).
We're hiring a Marketing Writer / Content Producer at @BigscreenVR
Looking for a versatile storyteller to own written content across the blog, website, socials, and emails. Bonus if you have experience in video scripting, presenting.
If you know VR and know how to tell stories, we want to hear from you.

We directed the Starlight Brigade music video for TWRP
We directed the Neon Odyssey music video for @AvantrisLegends
TOMORROW to help the cause we're thrilled to be streaming answering your questions about both!
Remember the Forza inspired shader?
Well… now it works on avatars! 🕺
You can apply any cubemap or texture to turn it into a fully stylized surface for your avatar.
I’ve been testing stuff like cardboard and it gets really fun once you start experimenting with weird ideas.

I built a tool that automatically fixes finger & fretboard clipping in guitar mocap!🪄
Manually fixing one full song frame-by-frame to “pull” fingers out of fretboard used to take me ~10 hours.
Now it runs automatically in ~90 minutes!🤯
And the results actually look pretty decent? First-person view in the clip 👇
We had a hackweek where everyone worked on weird and interesting things 🤯 - voxels, gaussian splats, terrain systems and more. All possible in s&box. 🧠

I'm releasing the COLMAP dataset (1.9GB) I used for the Raspberry!
Maybe somebody want to do a higher res version? A LichtFeld version would also be cool to see.
