Bengaluru just got a new soul — and you can see it the moment you land.
At the Arrival Forecourt of Terminal 2, Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru, “Bengaluru’s Soul,” a striking new cultural landmark by critically acclaimed Spanish artist Jaume Plensa, now welcomes the world.
The installation was unveiled by H.E. Juan Antonio March Pujol, Ambassador of Spain to India, in the esteemed presence of Mr. Priyank M Kharge, Honourable Minister for Rural Development, Panchayat Raj, and Information Technology & Biotechnology, Government of Karnataka, with @kiranshaw, Chairperson, Biocon Group, and @HariMarar, Managing Director & CEO, Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), in attendance, alongside artist Jaume Plensa.
More than an installation, it is a statement—a reflection of a city that has evolved beyond its identity as India’s tech capital into a global crossroads of culture, ideas and dialogue.
Supported by Biocon Foundation India, the sculpture represents a deeper commitment to Bengaluru’s growth, not just in science and innovation, but in spirit.
From rejuvenating lakes to strengthening urban ecology, advancing public health and enabling community development, the focus remains clear: building a city that is as thoughtful as it is forward-looking.
Because shaping a global city is not just about infrastructure.
It is about nurturing its soul.

In June 2025, @Biocon_FDN, in partnership with @BeSTCluster and @NCBS_Bangalore, launched BioWISE (Bio Women in STEM Empowered)—an initiative to expand access, participation and retention of women from Tier 2 and 3 institutions across Karnataka in the life sciences.
Today, that vision is translating into on-ground impact.
On April 2, 2026, the first cohort of 15 postgraduate scholars was formally onboarded at the Biocon Campus, beginning a six-month internship and mentorship journey across NCBS, IBAB, IISc and Biocon. The program creates a structured pathway for academic talent to transition into scientific careers. In addition to the postgraduate cohort, 10 undergraduate students are set to join the program in the coming months.
Through scholarships, industry exposure, lab immersion, mentorship and structured career guidance, BioWISE aims to equip young women with the skills, confidence and professional networks they need to thrive as future scientists.
We look forward to sharing more stories and milestones from the BioWISE Cohort 1 experience as their journey unfolds.

Over the past year, we have had the privilege of building a deeply meaningful volunteering journey with @Bioconlimited — one that stands out as a true highlight for all of us at Akshaya Patra.
What began as a series of engagements has grown into a remarkable collaboration involving 282 committed volunteers, contributing 716 hours across our Jigani kitchen, nearby schools, and even at the Biocon corporate office. Each session brought inspiring energy, heartfelt enthusiasm, and a genuine desire to understand and contribute to our mission.
From exploring the intricacies of our large-scale kitchen operations, to actively participating in pre-processing activities, to serving freshly prepared meals to children 🍛 — every moment reflected the spirit of compassion and community. Many volunteers even took the time to taste the meals themselves, making the experience richer and more personal.
Engagements like these strengthen the fabric of our community and show what becomes possible when purpose and partnership come together. They remind us that the impact we create for children’s nutrition and education is not just organisational — it is human, heartfelt, and transformative. ✨
To the entire Biocon family:
Thank you for your trust, your time, and your wholehearted participation.
We truly value this association and look forward to many more meaningful engagements together.
