@MarcoMckayy@lokiscottishrap That’s why Hamas exists in the first place, because so many Palestinian families were murdered and displaced. And peaceful protest achieved nothing with Israel. So here we are, the answer to your question from a Palestinian perspective.
@guestieboy1971@KatieM12121@juneslater17 I think when you set fire to a building because the race of the people in there isn’t the same as yours you become a far right activist
@JGreenriver@Buckeruu @DoctorMcGrail @OGRolandRat@ZoeJardiniere The fact that there are people who DO care about race doesn’t stop there being many people who don’t. Perhaps if the issues that result in people’s oppression were addressed, such as economic ones, race would slide from a major distraction issue to a minor one.
@JGreenriver@Buckeruu @DoctorMcGrail @OGRolandRat@ZoeJardiniere You may put that friction to race, I certainly wouldn’t. I may have more in common with regular working people on the other side of the world than my neighbour.
@JGreenriver@Buckeruu @DoctorMcGrail @OGRolandRat@ZoeJardiniere All established empires were killing over everything. In a modern context I’d like to think the Romans, or whoever else, would put their brains to better use. Certainly stopping cars to ask “are you white” would not be a part of it.
@JGreenriver@Buckeruu @DoctorMcGrail @OGRolandRat@ZoeJardiniere You have to view through the lens of history - atrocities like genocide were common place for every successful empire. Successful being the key word. But both after a uprise in genetic mix - white Europeans and black Africans combining, and Arabs became a total hodgepodge.
@LeeAndersonMP_ This perfectly highlights his lack of understanding on the issue. Having an immigration policy isn’t racist in itself. There’s outrage when Reform/Anderson are racist. There’s outrage when you propose authoritarian policies. There’s outrage when you show a lack of equality.
I followed Nigel Farage on and off for 10 years.
When all's said and done about his standing in Clacton, milkshake incident etc, he remains at the end of the day one of the most repugnant shameless liars in UK history.
Some of his standout lesser-known lies I've compiled FTR 🧵
@LeeAndersonMP_ It’s such a poor list. Ask a Palestinian your age about what they’ve been through and you’ll the meaning of “I want my country back”. And there’s countless other examples that relate back to the irony of an Englishman complaining when their history is colonial pillaging of others
@andreajenkyns Try comparing to the last by election and not a generally election. And that’s your take home - more conservative? Was your take after Brexit to be more closer tied to Europe?
