2500 $TAO. That’s the new subnet registration cost, reset as part of today’s Bittensor mainnet upgrade (spec v3.2.9-326).
More importantly: new subnet registrations now burn TAO instead of locking it. A major tokenomic shift which is turning growth itself into a deflationary force.
The update temporarily resets the subnet registration price to 2500 TAO, giving builders time to adapt before the cost dynamically increases again.
As activity resumes, each new subnet becomes a permanent TAO sink. Thus tightening supply and linking innovation directly to scarcity.
currently working with our legal team to explore whether subnet miners could exchange alpha tokens for equity
the discussion around allowing alpha holders to swap for equity remains highly sensitive and carries significant Howey-related risk
recently had a very interesting convo with @BarrySilbert about this
@maxscore This would be huge!! As an active miner I feel that we learn so much more and deeper about the SN then some devs can invision the project. With equity there could be weight to your voice 😎
