@EsmeCrutchley If I was to use a dedicated application I'd probably use @itsscoreapp or @rightmessageapp (if they still have the quiz version?)
For my quiz I used SmartQuizBuilder Plugin: https://t.co/C7xQTctMwL (quiz is down rn for rebrand)
Other Good Options:
- @TallyForms
- @tryinteract
When we have kids our time is constrained, it doesn’t mean we can’t do all the things we want to do.
It’s not an either or. There will be periods of time where we DO less, but it is a snapshot.
It’s half term right now… I have less capacity, but it doesn’t mean I can’t do all the things we want to do.
We may not be able to do them “as fast”, but honestly even if I don’t have the kids (rare moment these days), I still get a similar amount done, it’s just variable.
It isn’t children that stops us doing all the things. Because.. kids grow up. 😮💨.
I’ve got two kids with Special Educational Needs, and my partner (up until recently) worked full time, so I was primary career, and still am.
I’ve got two kids, and what Danny stated is accurate to my experience.
Now this is something I have researched… the DMN is believed to be related to “mind wandering”. It’s believed to be activated when thinking about past/current/ or future situations involving the individual.
Basically if you’re not “processing” the information, instead you’re relying on your Default Mode Network. (Slightly simplified)
It is one part of the “Salience Network”
You’ve got Default Mode Network, and the Central Executive Network.
.@obsdmd and @arcinternet has spoiled me for multi column windows... each time I go into an app that DOESN'T have this ability, I'm just like *sigh* okay, let's do this the long way 😁.
I do wonder who the 0.356 of a person is and whether they're okay 😁
Side note isn't it funny how ~40% feels low, but also that's 486(.0356) people who at least opened the email, it's probably not 100% accurate... and "conversions" could be better. It's still nice to know 486.0356 people had it open, if not for a brief second 😁
@DannyHatcher It’s because of how well you articulate… people view it as “over explained” 😮💨
They assume you’re writing smarter than you are… which is funny as ChatGPT can just NOT write the topic you/we discuss.
Notion Templates vs Reality
So Notion templates are great... but they're nothing but a snapshot.
Don't think that your own system should work like a Notion template does.
Business is messy and your Notion can be messy too.
At the end of the day, it needs to suit your needs!
Been having a lot of fun running D&D for a group of business owners in Europe and the US... and @obsdmd still comes up trumps in terms of being able to and structure how I setup all the potential plotlines.
@notiondad I am sorry for your loss!
ClickUp has never suited my purpose, but it's better than Asana when it comes to anything more than simple lists 😭
It could be... but also... for me it's actually the opposite. I've got a washing machine going right now – I feel "more focused" than I am in silence.
Here's my thinking out loud-self organised thoughts
When I'm in silence I'm more sensitive and attuned to the quietest of noises around me. The fridge clicks suddenly, I can be surprised by that and it has the potential to draw my attention :)
If I approach it from an EcoPsyc lens vs a CogPsyc, which I assume this paper is based on.
We can remove some assumptions around a "cognitive function", and return to the relationship between the person (organism) and enviroment (my kitchen)
We all detect and exploit information differently and with Autism it's to thought I have difficulty/difference in interpreting the information in the environment. (
So for my own lived experience, when it's silent, I hear electric plugs buzzing, I hear the slightest of noises, fridge clicking etc.
They're all attracting my attention, wheras with a consistent noise, such as a washing machine or similar appliance. I focus/attune to it at first but then something else attracts my focus/attention and influences my behaviour.
Although I will say as I'm discussing the washing machine, I'm more attuned to the washing machine... so perhaps there's something to be said...
So is Noise a secret destroyer of productivity... It feels like it's only a small part of the puzzle. Noise doesn't cause reduced productivity, but it's a piece of a larger puzzle that needs exploring. 🤔
Noise is a secret destroyer of productivity.
It is secret because it impacts cognition, not effort, so we don’t notice, but a 10db noise increase (from a dishwasher to a vacuum) lowers productivity by 5%. Noise is also greater in poorer neighborhoods... https://t.co/RaIAsSudyY
@NotionFlows@typeoneerror@NotionHQ The Synced block!!! The accidental feature, that I don't think was ever supposed to be a feature that ended up being the best feature...
People who work for an employer AND are Self Employed.
I'd love to know a little bit about your experience through doing both... especially if you've got family/other responsibilities!
@fortelabs@morgencalendar does all I want… and supposedly there’s Notion integration coming down the pipeline too… which might be cool! 😊
But like Cron before it, NC just doesn’t quite match it for me 😊
Even the best plans, don't always pan out.
