They are potential future cabinet members, and they need to scrutinise the roles they shadow & offer alternatives. Tory MPs now in those roles should be expected to do the same.

@carlgardner @Scott_Wortley If this is the reason then it's a recent change for him as he swore in in 2019. But I'm glad that the system by which MPs are sworn into the house allows so many options so everyone can choose to make an oath or affirmation which is meaningful for them.

The point of the stats Carol is referring to is that only 13 look certain. If you then have e.g. 100 seats which are 50/50, you expect a further 50 seats

@Haggis_UK They want ALL of the credit and NONE of the blame. Always the same. On the local level, Grant Shapps is the same. He emailed everyone, proud that he had arranged to get a car park fixed then when it wasn't done properly it was "the council did it". Just take some blame you tools!
