🎉🗞️ AN AGURI CHRISTMAS IN THE ANDES 🎄🎅 This year, for Christmas, $Aguri helped organize something very special.

High in the Andes Mountains of Peru — nearly five thousand meters above sea level — a remote Indigenous community needed help to save their annual Christmas party. In a place where life is shaped by altitude, weather, and tradition, small comforts carry deep meaning.

The community is known as the Qero people.

The Q’ero are widely respected for preserving the sacred wisdom, rituals, and worldview of the ancient Inka civilization — traditions passed down carefully from generation to generation. Their way of life remains closely connected to the land, the mountains, and the rhythms of nature.

The Qero people also celebrate Christmas!

But living a traditional lifestyle in a remote and challenging environment, there are very few opportunities to earn money. Things many of us take for granted — like hot chocolate and fruitcake, which are important Christmas traditions in Perú — can be difficult to afford, especially for an entire community.

This year, Aguri coordinated with friends and gathered donations to help make their Christmas celebration possible — just like we did last year, Aguri and friends returned to help again.

The funds paid for a special hot chocolate and panetón fruitcake party — enough for everyone in the community to share together. A simple gesture, perhaps, but one that brought warmth, sweetness, and joy on a cold mountain Christmas.

In addition to the celebration, we also brought new bowls and cups — items the community told us they needed this year. Practical gifts, chosen with care, meant to serve families long after the holiday itself has passed.

This was a special day. A moment of togetherness, gratitude, and shared humanity. Children smiled. Elders watched as their community gathered once again.

For Aguri, this is what matters.

Friendship. Consistency. Showing up — not once, but year after year. Doing good, without expectation, simply because it’s the right thing to do.

Aguri is grateful to everyone who helped make this Christmas possible, and honored to stand beside the Q’ero community that has preserved its wisdom for centuries.
