People who work in high finance are completely clueless to how much people who don’t work in it make.
It’s like living in Scarsdale and saying “bro $2M is a starter home”
I see a lotta people on the timeline freaking out about the JPM DEI woman getting paid $300K, about that girl at stripe getting $300K, and now the below.
A lot of you have no idea how much inflation there’s been over the past few years, especially in the NYC area.
I’d say new pay scale in Manhattan is something like this-
Entry level- $250k, if you’re in your mid 20s at a good firm you need to be clearing this
Middle management- $500K to $1MM, this is basically middle class now
Doing well- $3MM plus
If you’re surprised by the White Party offer, you’re not seeing what’s going on
Before I left to go all in on HYH I was at $500k TC collectively.
I had a lot of peers at that age in PE, IB, & Credit hitting their stride & getting to 500k too.
Just gotta be an absolute dog.
