Today we’re proud to share the UK’s largest ever report into Black women’s maternity experiences.
Over 1,100 Black women responded to our survey, and what they told us is deeply concerning.
This report tells a story of feeling ignored, dismissed, and mistreated.
It’s time to do better #FiveXMore #blackmereport

This #infantmentalhealthweek focuses on raising awareness of the critical gaps in support for vulnerable families and babies.

I'm excited to share with you all a new project that I've been working on with the British Pilgrimage Trust to support families affected by birth trauma. BPT have worked with me to plan a beautiful new walking route as a restorative journey along rivers, over hills and to the ancient heart of Bath, for any parents who have experienced difficult births.
I've been on their wonderful walks before and I found it to be a hugely healing experience whilst I recovered from my own difficult birth. So please join us on this healing pilgrimage walk to Bath over the weekend of July 5th. More information below👇

Aspects which resonated with me:
1. A need to view women's health as a life course priority, not merely one of reproductive capacity.
2. Protect bodily autonomy in decision-making.
3. "Women are not just little men". Considering them as such is dangerous for health outcomes
Welcome to Day 2 of our @PMHPUK#maternalmentalhealthawarenessweek where the theme is:
Walking With You As You Find Your Voice- Supportive Organisations.
We will be highlighting the work of organisations that work with people affected by perinatal mental illness.
Let’s talk about maternal mental health!
Around 1 in 4 women experience perinatal mental health problems.
A range of mental health conditions can affect mothers during the perinatal period – anxiety and depression disorders being the most common

Really important & timely study being conducted by @KeelyDuddin & team to identify barriers faced by women of colour during their maternity journeys in UK policing.
Please share far & wide to friends & networks in policing.
Every story matters, let’s make sure all are heard.
Honour to have been asked to speak at this event today about some of my personal experiences but more importantly to shout about @BleepKind 🏃🏼♀️@BlueMindsPolice 🧠 & the MPS Women’s Health Network 💜 because all the support is there for Specials too! #OneTeam 👮🏼♀️
Did some talks today at the MPS wide Keeping in Touch Day.
A great day for those on parental leave & a timely reminder there are great people in @metpoliceuk doing all they can to support others, all above their day jobs.
