Dear @WhiteHouse, my name is Rodney Smith Jr., founder of Raising Men & Women Lawn Care Service in Huntsville, Alabama. Through our 50 Yard Challenge, over 6,000 kids across the country have signed up to mow free lawns for the elderly, disabled, veterans, active-duty military, first responders, and single parents. With America celebrating its 250th birthday this year and me also being born on July 4th, I wanted to humbly ask if a few kids from our program and myself could travel to Washington, D.C. to help mow the White House lawn for this historic celebration.
More than anything, I want these kids to see how a simple act of service something as ordinary as mowing a lawn for someone in need can lead to extraordinary places. What better lesson in community service than showing them that helping others can take them all the way to our nation’s capital? I’d also love to bring my American flag-themed mower in hopes that the President might sign it, so I can later auction it off and donate 100% of the proceeds to a nonprofit supporting veterans. It would be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to highlight the importance of service, patriotism, and the impact young people can have when they choose to make a difference. 🇺🇸
DID YOU ENJOY YOUR DAY OFF?
Blacks founded Memorial Day in 1865 to honor our war dead
African Americans, including freed slaves and Black soldiers, organized one of the first Memorial Day commemorations on May 1, 1865, in Charleston, South Carolina.
The earliest recorded observance of what would become Memorial Day took place shortly after the Civil War, when over 1,000 newly freed African Americans, along with U.S. Colored Troops and a few white missionaries, honored 257 Union soldiers who had died in a Confederate prison camp in Charleston, South Carolina.
These soldiers had been hastily buried in unmarked graves, and the Black community took the initiative to properly exhume and rebury them, creating a cemetery known as the "Martyrs of the Race Course."
In the days leading up to the event, African American residents reorganized the graves into neat rows, built a 10-foot-tall white fence around the site, and erected an archway inscribed with “Martyrs of the Race Course.”
On May 1, 1865, approximately 10,000 people, mostly Black residents, participated in the commemoration. Black schoolchildren paraded with roses, singing the Union song “John Brown’s Body,” while adults representing aid societies and Black ministers delivered sermons, led prayers, and sang spirituals with the gathered crowd.
I agree 100% with Paul Craig Roberts!!!!! Trump has violated his oath of office. However, I would add that Trump is also a war criminal and a genocidaire. It would be nice to have a U.S. President who was neither. https://t.co/bCmT95KKf4

That War Powers Resolution passing in the House is extremely important. It shows a paradigm shift. It needs to pass in the Senate too. The war must end!
Check out today’s episode!
The unprovoked war on Iran cost lives and resulted in massive destruction. It is obscene and immoral that not only should Iranian assets stolen by the U.S. be released but war reparations are legally in line here also. https://t.co/h6CQbbQMEh
