Things most Americans agree on:
Groceries cost too much.
Tariffs suck and make no sense.
Congress and Presidents shouldn’t trade stocks.
The debt is a mess.
The border should be secure, but legal immigration is good.
Endless wars are stupid, especially ones that nobody wants and have never been explained.
Americans are exhausted.
AI is like my new best friend that also might be trying to take my job, my ability to think for myself, and my humanity in the process. Yo like I love you, but WTF, but I still love you.
Diversity is actually awesome! The opposite is boring AF.
Canadians are super fucking cool.
Mexicans are chill.
Putin isn’t a good guy looking out for America’s best interest. Rocky IV and Miracle are great movies.
Good neighbors are a blessing.
Freedom of religion and coexistence without having to blow each other up is probably a good idea.
We all question, are we alone in the universe?
We all fuck up along the way.
Epstein didn’t hang himself.
The Trumps and Epstein were best friends for decades. It’s like Bert trying to tell us Ernie was just an acquaintance in the same social scene on Sesame Street back in the day.
The Cowboys suck. Go Birds!
Things we’re told to fight about:
Me.
Laptop.
Vaccines.
Transgenders in sports.
Pronouns.
That’s the joke.
This is an insane story. The DOGE whistleblower who said that login attempts were made to the NLRB from Russian IP addresses minutes after DOGE got access had his brake lines cut and photos of him walking his dog from a drone taped to his door after Musk attacked him on Twitter
The screwworm program wasn't charity, it was a $10 million fence that kept a billion-dollar problem from eating our own livestock alive. That's the thing with most USAID funding: it looks like "aid," but it's really cheap self-defense. Solve a problem there, and it never lands on our doorstep. But sure, let a bunch of guys who can't define DEI without Googling take a chainsaw to it. They didn't stop to ask, "Will this cut hurt us too?" Unless that's the point, burn it all down and call it efficiency.
As usual our inept agriculture secretary, blaming the Biden administration as usual, instead of offering a solution to the problem they created.
Texan here
A screwworm infestation is a nightmare for cattle, causing horrific wounds and economic devastation. For Texas, the situation has escalated dramatically in the last 24 hours with the first confirmed case of New World Screwworm (NWS) in over 60 years! This could have been avoided!
Infested animal can kill a cow in less than two weeks.
Treatment is extremely difficult and time-consuming, requiring the painful removal of every visible larva and deep disinfection of the wound. Ranchers no longer have much experience with this labor-intensive process, and there is currently no approved pharmaceutical treatment to make it easier.
This has triggered a massive economic threat. The USDA estimates that a widespread outbreak would drain an astonishing $1.8 billion from the Texas economy alone in livestock deaths, labor, and medication expenses.
How will this affect you? Tightening supplies will drive already high beef prices higher.
Hunter Biden doing these public interviews is one of the best PR coups I’ve ever seen
And everyone in right wing media is terrified to interview him because they’ve been lying for years and he’s… actually just a very smart, articulate guy with a no bullshit attitude
@TECleveland @cremieuxrecueil Despite some bogus grants, a lot of government is like this cartoon. I bet this "small team" would find a line item for "screwworm sterilization" and delete it, not knowing that they just devastated American farming: https://t.co/OAnAkxDSEK
Yeah the Trump administration needs to own this 100%
The "Cut Spending Cut Spending Cut Spending" crowd just targeted really good worthwhile programs, the deficit is higher than ever, and now we're seeing the effects of letting teenagers and Elon Musk LARP as libertarian budgeters
Never let these idiots touch power again
Given that we knew last year that this horrible disease was marching north towards the US,
I'm not sure I would have cut funding @USDA for animal disease control and prevention, including New World screwworm work, and pushed out staff with animal-disease expertise
NEWS: Screwworm has been detected in Texas, USDA confirmed - marking a serious threat to US cattle and other animals
Larvae of the parasite were found in the umbilical cord of a 3 week old calf
Screwworm was eradicated from the US in 1966
