Many #Burnaby-Lougheed families have shared with me how access to qualify, affordable #ChildCareBC is critical.
Thanks to the advocacy + hard work of @sfuchildcare professionals and local families, we are bringing 426 $10/day spaces that will benefit so many in our community! 🙌
@NardaNelson @EcpnBc @JM_Whiteside I’ve always appreciated and supported the work the pedagogists have done since we started the initiative with @EcpnBc @vpacinik in 2018.
Please know that we’ve been in discussions with @EcpnBc and renewed the contract for a year while we evaluate longer-term funding options.
So much good work this year - reaching 1,456 #ECEs in 427 programs - at risk of being undone due to BC gov’t dragging heels on disclosing funding renewal (or not) for @EcpnBc @FirstNationsPN@BCACCS@MetisNationBC@ECEBC1#bced#ECE
How is this promoting 'quality' child care?
As of today...
62 @EcpnBc pedagogists+ have NO IDEA if they'll have employment in 5 weeks, as contracts come to an end. How does BC gov't expect people to live, plan, support families under these conditions? @KatrinaCBurnaby@JM_Whiteside#bced#ECE

I am so proud of this little photographer! ❤️
As a working mom and an immigrant without family in Canada other than my 7-year-old (the photographer 😎), I know firsthand the child care struggles many BC families face. The federal funding will accelerate our #ChildCareBC plan!☀️
In the ruins we dream and act. @vpanick (co-PI) and I are filled with gratitude for this award and for being able to collaborate with @Nxumalo71 @of_anthropology, Megan Feheley, Rafaella Ansolini, Juana Cordova, Adolfo Verdugo, David Fajardo and Enrique Serrano
“Second thoughts emerge, with the possibility to ponder and think pedagogically about what I am producing and under what educational purpose.” By brilliant Dana Lee...Always grateful for her generosity and thoughtfulness. https://t.co/gEGBvqEVs3
“We believe it is critical for people in Canada to know [...] what is possible in ECE beyond the provision of safe and affordable care for children while adults work.” @pedagogycollab advancing the conversation on the child care announcement. https://t.co/geL3Qaw31K
"If governments see early childhood education as a service for working parents, they miss out on understanding the rich educational experiences in children’s lives that also shape our collective future."

The shooter was a customer of 2 spas: “Gold Spa” & “Aromatherapy.” The murdered Korean women who worked there were ages 50-70. The shooter drove to “Young’s Asian Massage” where he killed 2 ethnically Chinese women workers & 2 White customers, where he had not been a customer.
A pedagogist is who translates the potential of an educational situation. This translation is rarely repetition, rather, it is an invitation to invent. #becomingpedagogist
#ChildCareMonth may only be for one month, but we appreciate the work that #ECEs do every day of the year! 🙌
