The UN General Assembly approved the UN Secretary-General's recommendation to renew @volker_turk's mandate as United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights for an additional four-year term, until 11 October 2030. Two motions tabled during the meeting were not approved. The decision was subsequently adopted by a recorded vote of 144 in favor, 10 against, and 13 abstentions.

Mais quel plan votre gouvernement avait-il mis en œuvre pour moderniser cette exploitation lorsqu’il en avait le contrôle ?
Subitement, vous vous inquiétez du sort de la population de Rubaya simplement parce que vous ne contrôlez plus cette zone !

Si la vie des Congolais vous préoccupait réellement, les Banyamulenge et les autres Tutsi congolais ne continueraient pas d’être tués dans une telle indifférence.

Si la vie des Congolais était réellement votre priorité, nous n’aurions pas vu les grandes figures de votre gouvernement, y compris votre chef d’État, remplir des stades de football pendant que votre population faisait face à l’épidémie d’Ebola. Alors, qui ment à qui ?

Sachez aussi que ceux qui contrôlent ces mines sont vos compatriotes congolais et que les revenus sont utilisés en RDC, puisque même les territoires contrôlés par le M23 restent des territoires congolais.

Se présenter systématiquement comme une victime immaculée tout en refusant toute remise en question ne résout aucun problème.
Au contraire, cela ne fait que prolonger le conflit.

Today, Ambassador @martin_ngoga delivered #Rwanda’s statement at the @UN General Assembly High-Level Meeting on HIV/AIDS.

The Ambassador highlighted #Rwanda’s achievements in HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, and care, including surpassing the @UNAIDS 95-95-95 global targets, and underscored strong national ownership, integrated health systems, and continued commitment to ending AIDS by 2030.

In the group statement, Deputy Permanent Representative Mr. Robert Kayinamura welcomed the efforts of the Office of #Audit and #Investigations to strengthen oversight, accountability, and institutional integrity across @UNDP/@UNFPA/ @UNOPS operations, and emphasized the need to enhance early risk detection, monitoring, transparency, and follow-up.

Today marks the opening of the 19th Session of the Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (#COSP19).

During the session, #Rwanda cast its ballot in the election of new members to the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

At the Annual Session of the #UNDP/#UNFPA/#UNOPS Executive Board, #Rwanda delivered an intervention on behalf of the African members of the Triple Board (🇹🇩Chad, 🇨🇮Côte d’Ivoire, 🇲🇬Madagascar, 🇲🇿Mozambique, 🇳🇬Nigeria, 🇹🇳Tunisia, and 🇿🇲Zambia).

In the group statement, Deputy Permanent Representative Mr. Robert Kayinamura welcomed discussions on the proposed merger between #UNFPA and #UN-Women, emphasizing the need to preserve existing intergovernmentally agreed mandates and safeguard country-level delivery in support of women and girls across programme countries.

Given that Radio Okapi is funded through the UN mission in the DRC, its editorial standards and funding oversight deserve scrutiny. Its funding must be looked into.

Today, #Rwanda participated in the Ninth Biennial Meeting of States on the Programme of Action to Prevent, Combat and Eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons (#BMS9).

Rwanda’s statement called for;

🔹 The urgent need to build national and institutional capacities for the effective implementation of the Programme of Action (#PoA) and International Tracing Instrument (#ITI)

🔹 Addressing the root causes and drivers contributing to the illicit proliferation of small arms and light weapons

🔹 Strengthening international cooperation, and information-sharing to prevent diversion and reinforce shared responsibility.

Apparently in Kinshasa even a public health measure must somehow become “Rwanda’s fault.” One would think stopping the spread of an epidemic would require seriousness, coordination, and facts but instead we get another political performance.

It is deeply irresponsible to politicize a serious public health matter. Border health measures are sovereign decisions taken to protect populations, not opportunities for theatrical accusations.

Unfortunately, some DRC officials @PATRICKMUYAYA, have made it a habit to mention Rwanda in absolutely everything, regardless of how embarrassing or unrelated the issue may be. At some point, basic seriousness and frankly a little shame should prevail over propaganda.

Public health cooperation saves lives. Political dramatization does not.

Funny how the conversation is always about rare earth minerals, never about the people being bombed by their own government, persecuted because of their language or identity, labeled “foreigners” in their own country, or the continued presence of FDLR genocidaires in the Kivus.

Apparently FOR SOME, saving rare earth minerals now matters more than protecting human beings marked for exclusion or annihilation.

“RARE EARTH minerals” has become the slogan. Save the people first. The minerals can wait.
