The #Guji and the Bale people are protesting to express their disapproval of the establishment of a new zone named “East Borana” w/c is formed by carving out lands from the Guji, Bale and Borana zones without consultation with the people. Protests and boycotts has continued in #Gujii. If government doesn’t resolve it, the discord among the Borena & Gujii clans, has potential to cause conflict among these clans. @ShimelisAbdisa@PMEthiopia@DendeaTaye@SecBlinken@USEmbassyAddis@KenRoth
Captain Ibrahim Traoré, Burkina Faso’s Transitional President since the 2022 coup, is often compared to Thomas Sankara, the revolutionary leader who governed Burkina from 1983 to 1987. Some criticize him for going 40 years back to learn from Sankara. Others admire him for embracing Sankara’s anti-imperialist, Pan-Africanist, and self-reliance-focused ideology, at times blending with modern geopolitical and domestic realities. This brings us to a conclusion that Traoré selectively draws on Sankara’s playbook to address today’s challenges in Burkina - aka land of the Coup.

It's unfortunate that the GoE's peace talks with OLA ended without an agreement. The desire to end the suffering in parts of Oromia region is evident, and it's commendable to see the regret expressed by the GoE. Recognizing the dedication of facilitators, observers, and Tanzania's hosting efforts underscores the commitment to pursuing peace collaboratively in challenging times.
It’s more than 15 days since #Cholera outbreak is reported in Wadera wereda of #Gujii zone of Oromiya region. Reportedly more than 20 people died of it at heath centers. Many more are dying before they arrive at health centers. The area is drought-stricken & the problem is exacerbated as a result of instability in the region. No media coverage so far. As a result, no attention is paid to it. @AbiyAhmedAli@WHO@HMDessalegn@USEmbassyAddis@FemiOke@JamalMOsman@ShimelisAbdisa@PMEthiopia @PowerUSAID
