Watch Charlie boy come back to life after completely shutting down in a council pound 🥹

Charlie is a partially sighted old boy whose sister was deemed to be a banned breed, and euthanised. They are similar looking dogs but her measurements didn't go in her favour. We were torn about including her photo in this video (we haven't) wanting to raise awareness but also not wanting to upset everyone. It is utterly heartbreaking to see her beautiful, frightened face.

Charlie shut down having lost his friend and guide in life.

This isn't a post to criticise those working in council pounds, or those who have to end lives under banned breed laws. They have one of the hardest jobs in rescue. For the carers who endured the heartbreak of this case, we hope Charlie boy's video gives you the hope and resiliance to keep fighting for these dogs. We will always stand with you and save another where we can.

Our dogs are Charlie boy's guide now and he is living in the moment again. He sleeps soundly knowing he is safe. We will find him an amazing new home, and then we will save the next one.

It has been an incredibly challenging year both personally and physically. I have been sick for the past two months and am currently recovering, though it is a slow process. However, the shelter and rescues move forward every day, and all of our animals continue to be loved and cared for.

Our supply stock has dwindled significantly, and we are in urgent need of donations to keep operating. Here is a breakdown of our most immediate needs:

Daily Supplies & Feed:

- Dog food and cat food
- Giant pee pads
- Flea medication and dog wormer
- Dawn dishwashing liquid and dog shampoo
- Ivomec (bottles)
- Cleaning supplies (Clorox bleach, Outerband, paper towels)

Upcoming Needs & Wish List Items:

- Moving blankets, regular blankets, and towels
- Dog beds and dog houses
- Heaters
- Urgent: A small mini-fridge for storing medications (our current one went out)

Sponsorships & Financial Support:
Over the last two months alone, we have taken in 22 dumped puppies and 4 adults. We are looking for sponsors for:

- Our long-term resident animals who are living out their days with us.
- New puppies and rescues needing care.
- Ongoing vet bills and daily operations.

Property & Land Update:
I have requested a two-month extension regarding our property (until January 15th), which is pending approval. Due to my hospitalization and illness, progress on the land was paused, but I am getting back to work on it now. Please rest assured that all donations designated for the animals go strictly to their care, while GoFundMe and land donations are kept separate for that specific project.

Today’s emergency intake is a broken boy, Charlie boy 🐶🥹

“He is absolutely terrified of interaction and handling but no aggression at all has been shown, he just freezes and will not stand up or walk. He had to be walked into the kennels in a towel sling with 2 people.

This poor boy's flea infestation was so bad his skin was bleeding and fleas were all over him. He eats treats and food and walks around his kennel when the door is closed and no one is near. He also has eyesight issues and doesn't seem to be able to see very well, he can hear.”

Charlie came in to the council pound with another female dog who was typed as a banned breed by a DLO and ordered to be euthanised. You can only imagine how this affected the staff who legally must comply, and Charlie boy lost all that made him feel safe in this world 💔

We are full, but as always the clock was ticking for him. We will make it work and we will pour our hearts into building this boy back up. Papa Cluse is at the ready to be his friend 🐶🐶

We are heartbroken to have to say goodbye to Chunks, our big sweet boy.

When we first found him, he was hiding under a house in so much pain. He had been struggling, but from the moment he came into our care, we did everything we could to make him comfortable and give him the love and care he so clearly deserved.

Although saying goodbye is incredibly hard, we take comfort in knowing that Chunks wasn’t scared or hiding when his time came. He was safe, comfortable, and surrounded by people who loved him right until the very end.

His time with us may have been short, but he knew love when it mattered most.

Rest easy, Chunks. 🕊️💔
