Rare or illegal?
A giant stingray was hauled onto the Gujarat coast using a crane, a clear sign of intentional landing, not an accidental bycatch. Several species like the Ganges Stingray & Porcupine Ray are listed under Schedule I of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
Under Indian law, hunting or landing these species carries the same criminal weight as poaching a tiger. We cannot let rare sightings mask the illegal exploitation of our marine life.
@GujForestDept@moefcc Was this animal identified? Was a seizure memo issued? This requires an immediate investigation into the vessel and the landing site.

The Chambal River is bleeding.
Illegal sand mining is stripping away the soul of one of Indias last pristine ecosystems. From the nesting grounds of the Gharial to the home of the Ganges River Dolphin, human greed is driving our wildlife toward extinction and destroying local livelihoods.
The Supreme Court has stepped in, but surveillance isnt enough, we need accountability and an end to the sand mafia reign.
Sustainable development cannot come at the cost of irreversible ecological collapse. Protect the Chambal.

Conservation V Commercialism
Booming wildlife tourism and disturbing visitor behaviour are turning India’s forests into stress zones for wildlife.
A lone Tiger is followed by at least a dozen tourist vehicles.

Why is it Adani at the cost of our environment, everywhere we look?
1000000 trees. Mango, litchi, teak all being cleared for a 2400 MW power plant in Bihar. When will the government prioritize our lungs over corporate pocket.
From Bhagalpur to the rest of the country, thousands of trees are being felled for corporate gains while the govt looks the other way.
Its the same story across India. Why are these projects approved without a second thought for the animals and the ecology they destroy? This isnt progress but a crisis.

India lost 40 million vultures in one of the fastest ecological collapses ever. A painkiller for cows killed nature’s perfect sanitation system, and triggered a public health crisis. Now the long, difficult fight to bring them back is tangled in politics, funding fights & premature releases. Powerful long read in @TheEconomist by Sudipto Sanyal:

One of the most viral videos on India’s conservation crisis starkly showing how booming tourism and disturbing visitor behaviour are turning forests into stress zones for wildlife.
These Baya Weaver nests on 11000V power lines aren't a sign of nature adapting, they are a sign of a crisis.
When we clear cut trees for development, we leave wildlife with no choice but to build homes in death traps. Urban growth without green corridors is just planned displacement. We must stop destroying their habitats before the only thing left of our biodiversity is a memory on a wire.

This is a must-read story.
Vantara, the private mega zoo in Gujarat run by billionaire Anant Ambani, has come under scrutiny in a wildlife trafficking investigation in Brazil.
Brazilian authorities allege that a U.S. citizen coordinated the purchase of illegally traded golden lion tamarins and other endangered animals for the facility. Officials seized three phones and a computer from the suspect at São Paulo airport on May 1.

Horrifying! Monkeys are suffering in barren cages with Frankenstein-style brain implants at @YorkUniversity. Some have been confined & experimented on for nearly 2 decades 💔
We’re calling on the university to CLOSE this cruel lab!

Plz read this. It is the systematic destruction of our future being drafted before our eyes. 🙏🏾
The Adani Group is the developer & operator of the coal Block of Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RVUNL).
So it is Adani who wants to divert 1,742.6 hectares of prime forest and cut more 4.48 lakh trees of India’s green lung Hasdeo.
Showing totally vogue reasons.
They have claimed that the extension block will meet “future requirement of said projects.”
This claim has been disputed by the Chhattisgarh Bachao Andolan (CBA) - a grassroots movement of civil society, tribal groups and activists working to protect the forests in Hasdeo.
They have cited the Central Electricity Authority has revised Rajasthan’s electricity requirements for the period up to 2035-36 to 16,561 MW from the previously projected 20,532 MW.
Therefore, this very “future requirement” claim itself appears misleading.
The Chhattisgarh Bachao Andolan (CBA) has said that it seems to serve narrow, undisclosed interests rather than any genuine public need.
Remember, saplings can never replace 100s of yrs old trees. Every such tree sustains its own ecosystem. If this monstrous capitalist hunger continues to consume the country this way, the damage will become irrecoverable.
Plz start speaking up. We have already done immense damage to our future. 🙏🏾
Less than 5% tribals in attendance during #Nicobar project sign-off, not 50% as mandated, few meetings called with a day's prior notice. Shompen represented by State-backed tribal body that didn't have powers to issue consent. Yet affidavit filed that all due process was followed
While we sleep, JCBs excavate.
While we stay awake, chainsaws cut trees one by one.
The H-CITI flyovers around KBR are a slow death sentence to #Hyderabad’s last green lung.
Citizens, the time to act is now.

Thousands of Adivasi men and women are protesting under the scorching Odisha sun against the proposed expansion of Kodingamali mining and the plan to increase supply 6 million tonnes of bauxite to Vedanta every year.
They speak of polluted water, damaged forests, loss of livelihoods, and threats to their very existence. Yet, not a single prominent leader from any major political party is standing beside them.
When elections come, tribals are called the “soul of India.” But when they fight for their land, forests, and dignity, the political class disappears.
Development cannot mean silencing the people who pay its highest price.
Thirst knows no boundaries. This bear in Koppal (Karnataka) was caught on camera searching for water in a plastic tub as the forests dry up. A clear sign of the devastating impact of the rising temperatures on our wildlife.
Our forests are parched and our wildlife is suffering. Are we even bothered about climate change yet? Time is running out for these animals.

106 hectares of core forest land don't just Vanish.
The ISRO satellite data on Udanti-Sitanadi is a massive indictment of the Forest Department. Over 15 years, 100000+ trees were systematically killed and replaced by farmland.
Where was the patrolling? How did ground teams miss a collapse of this scale?
Encroachers used girdling to kill trees slowly, but you cant hide a literal landscape transformation from anyone actually doing their job. This is a total failure of monitoring and accountability in a critical tiger habitat.
If we need satellites to tell us our forests are being hollowed out, the system is fundamentally broken.
