Growing up as a first generation American citizen on Long Island NY, 9/11 hit extremely close to my family. On one of the worst days in American history when savage terrorists attacked our homeland, so many friends, neighbors, and other first responders ran toward danger to protect and serve their fellow Americans.

I was honored to visit the 9/11 Memorial in New York paying tribute to all those who defended America in her darkest hour. NEW: Federal agents have arrested a Honduran migrant in LA for allegedly registering to vote and falsely claiming to be a U.S. citizen.

Authorities say Darwin Jonathan Rivera Flores is legally in the country, but is not a citizen and therefore cannot legally vote in federal elections.

Investigators allege that his voter registration and references to the upcoming midterms suggest he intended to cast a ballot in November.

Rivera has been charged with two felonies and faces deportation if convicted.
