Yesterday cabinet approved Zimbabwe's National Artificial Intelligence Strategy (2026-2030).This is a pivotal step in our digital transformation journey. The strategy is designed to harness AI for economic growth, foster innovation, and ensure data sovereignty while managing risks responsibly.

The cabinet's approval of the AI strategy signals a strong, top-down commitment to integrating AI into Zimbabwe's national development agenda.

We really thank all our partners as @MICTPCS_ZW which included all Government MDAs,UN Agencies most importantly @UNESCO,our regulator @Potraz_zw,private sector players,ICT sector organisations,academia,fellow member states who are members of the multilateral organisations which include @ITU, ATU,AU,SADC,the students from various academic institutions and general public who participated in the consultative processes.

As whispers of a presidential term extension grow louder within ZANU PF corridors, Zimbabweans must confront a dangerous illusion: the idea that President Emmerson Mnangagwa deserves to rule beyond 2030. This is not just unconstitutional it’s a betrayal of the very foundations of our democracy.
Zimbabwe’s 2013 Constitution, endorsed by millions in a national referendum, is unambiguous: a president may serve only two five-year terms. That’s it. No exceptions. No compensation clauses. No pandemic loopholes. Yet, loyalists like Daniel Garwe have floated the absurd idea that Mnangagwa “lost years” due to Cyclone Idai and COVID-19, and should be “rewarded” with extra time. This logic is not only insulting it’s dangerous. Crises are part of leadership. They do not suspend constitutional order. If every leader who governed during COVID-19 demanded a bonus term, democracy would collapse globally.

Wicknell Chivayo’s recent US$4 million donation including luxury vehicles and cash to ZANU PF provincial chairpersons raises serious questions. What does he gain from this? Influence. Access. Protection. And possibly, a stake in the succession narrative. This is not just generosity. It’s strategic positioning. Chivayo has long been linked to controversial government tenders and opaque contracts. His sudden largesse, timed with Mnangagwa’s birthday, feels less like charity and more like a calculated move to secure favor in a shifting political landscape.

General Constantino Chiwenga’s decision to skip the Zvishavane event was not a scheduling conflict it was a statement. In a party increasingly dominated by cartels and patronage, Chiwenga’s restraint signals a commitment to principle over theatrics. He remains the only senior figure who has not bowed to the pressure of sycophancy. While others cheer for unconstitutional extensions, Chiwenga stands firm defending the Constitution, resisting corruption, and refusing to legitimize political gamesmanship.

Today, ZANU PF is not the party of liberation it is a party at war with its own values. The grassroots are disillusioned. The Constitution is under siege. And the optics of wealth and power are drowning out the voices of ordinary Zimbabweans.
If tanks roll onto the streets, it won’t be because of foreign interferencek it will be because the people are tired of being ignored. Tired of being used. Tired of watching their future traded for political survival.

Zimbabweans must reject this falacy. Mnangagwa’s term ends in 2028. Full stop. Any attempt to extend it is a direct assault on our Constitution, our dignity, and our history. General Chiwenga is the man who can restore order. He is the man who can put ZANU PF back on its rails. And he is the man who must defend the legacy of liberation—not allow it to be auctioned off for political convenience. Let the message be clear Zimbabwe is not for sale. The Constitution is not negotiable. And the people will not be silenced.
