A climb of 116 spots in just three seasons.
Before the 2025 season, Venables was asked why he wanted the added responsibility of serving as both Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator.
His response:

🚨 A massive new softball stadium is coming to Oklahoma. 🥎

Citizen Potawatomi Nation is building a new championship venue at the FireLake Softball Complex in Shawnee that will seat more than 4,100 fans, making it one of the largest softball stadiums not only in the state, but the entire country ‼️

The facility is expected to include a huge digital scoreboard and is reportedly being designed to meet NCAA standards as CPN looks to attract major tournaments and championship events beginning in 2027.

The current FireLake complex already includes 10 synthetic turf softball fields and hosts events year-round, but this project could take Shawnee to another level as a softball destination in Oklahoma.

Oklahoma's women's team announced Tuesday that long-time assistant coach Ashley Kerr has resigned from her position, and Sooner great Olivia Trautman will replace her.

Kerr has been part of the team for nine seasons. Kerr, head coach K.J. Kindler, and assistant coaches Lou Ball and Tom Haley have formed the core four of the Sooners' coaching staff for nearly a decade, leading the program to five of its eight national titles.

Trautman is a three-time NCAA team champion with OU and won the NCAA vault title as a fifth year in 2023. She spent 2025 as a graduate assistant and the interim director of operations for OU before joining Utah State as a full-time assistant coach in 2026.

Mother’s Day evening shift: stopping traffic and negotiating with some very protective Canada geese. 🪿🚓 Edmond Police Officers Guilemette and Bell stopped traffic to help this goose family safely cross 4 busy lanes. Some brave citizens stepped in when the curb was too high for the goslings. Some words were exchanged between the geese and the officers… but at the end of the day — and on Mother’s Day evening — you’ve gotta appreciate a sassy mama protecting her babies. 💛
