Our Bitcoin Beginners merchant meetup in June wrapped up successfully.

A total of eight early-career professionals joined us for an engaging afternoon of conversations and shared experiences.

We were also joined by @asheswook , the developer of Korean local lightning App CornWallet @Team_Corn , who shared his thoughts on the future of Lightning payments and their continued evolution. Together, we had thoughtful discussions about how young professionals can continue stacking sats and thrive in the age of AI.

Our first Bitcoin merchant meetup was hosted at @promenadecastle, a venue that has been at the forefront of Korea's Bitcoin circular economy and merchant adoption movement.

He is deeply passionate about Bitcoin and everything related to sovereignty. Holding our very first merchant meetup at such a meaningful place—the heart of Korea's Bitcoin merchant community—made the event even more special.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Promenade for welcoming us and making this meetup possible. We also have immense respect for the continued dedication and hard work in advancing Bitcoin adoption across Korea.

Today, thanks to the efforts of @promenadecastle, @ShinraTensei_kr, and many other grassroots advocates, South Korea now has 181 Bitcoin-accepting merchants.

This is a remarkable achievement, built by Korean Bitcoiners from the ground up without any centralized organization or top-down campaign. It is a rare example of grassroots Bitcoin adoption at a scale that is difficult to find anywhere else in the world.

All eight participants used Lightning payments to pay for their own food and drinks during the meetup.

For some, it was their first experience using the Lightning Network for a real-world purchase. For others who had used Lightning before, it was a great opportunity to rediscover just how fast, simple, and convenient Lightning payments can be.
