Only one chance in this lifetime…
Like watching sunset at the beach from the most foreign seat in the cosmos, I couldn’t resist a cell phone video of Earthset. You can hear the shutter on the Nikon as @Astro_Christina is hammering away on 3-shot brackets and capturing those exceptional Earthset photos through the 400mm lens. @AstroVicGlover was in window 3 watching with @Astro_Jeremy next to him.
I could barely see the Moon through the docking hatch window but the iPhone was the perfect size to catch the view…this is uncropped, uncut with 8x zoom which is quite comparable to the view of the human eye. Enjoy.
One last look at Earth before we reach the Moon.
This view of the Earth was captured on April 5, the fourth day of the Artemis II mission, from inside the Orion spacecraft. The four astronauts will reach their closest approach of the Moon tomorrow, April 6.
DART mission showed we can, but at scale? tbd
Don't think it's a total waste of resources (private...for now) but think a 99.5/0.5 earth/mars asset allo ratio isn't terrible
Good chat, dude. Typically hate seeing you on my feed, bc it's either bearish (and right) or bullish (I fade & ur right)
@cryptodude999 NEED to take care of it for sure and fair point on our beautifully dumb species ruining it not being a valid reason to leave.
Reasons we can't mitigate like an asteroid? I'd say valid for setting the groundwork for future generations to make humans multi-planitary
@cryptodude999 Fair take all around, wouldn't say I disagree w/ the worry about here first. However, can't it be a two pronged approach?
If things go south here (climate, nukes, asteroid) we'd at least have a non-zero chance as a species of survival if we colonize elsewhere.
