Ray Peat Philosophical Orientation 1
[Inventing bioenergetics from scratch]
Ray was an Abductive Empiricist in the Aristotelian tradition.
The Greek word for “actuality” is ἐνέργεια (energy).
Hylomorphic parallel:
Actualizing form into matter
=Organizing structure with energy
Peaty Anti-Aging Skin Care
Mix:
•1/3 Lanolin
•2/3 MCT or Coconut Oil
According to Ray Peat, old skin is in a state of cholesterol deficiency. When aging skin is enriched with cholesterol, it regains the ability to shed old skin cells and appears younger again.
Lanolin is simply wool fat, composed mostly of cholesterol and long-chain fatty acids. Cholesterol itself has anti-aging benefits, but it also gets metabolized locally into the youth-associated steroids pregnenolone and progesterone. The skin contains many steroidogenic enzymes and can retain steroids for up to five days, meaning you don’t need to apply it daily to see benefits.
Lanolin also protects from sun damage and can be converted into Vitamin D if you go out into the sun.
In addition, lanolin contains lanosterol (which is anti-inflammatory) and has antifungal and antibacterial properties.
There’s no need to spend a lot of money on overpriced skincare products with toxic ingredients. Lanolin is inexpensive, and only a small amount is needed.
Ray Peat:
“Cholesterol’s functions are similar in many ways to those of progesterone.”
“When the skin’s free cholesterol content is increased experimentally, the skin retains its ability to shed dead superficial cells. When it is lowered experimentally, as with a statin, the skin takes on the structure and appearance of old skin. Aging seems to be a state of cholesterol starvation.”
"Vitamin E serves as an oil-based solvent that fully dissolves progesterone, enabling efficient transdermal or mucosal absorption without needing micronization, as the hormone is in solution form rather than suspended particles." Awesome!!
@BoyPeater Oh. I don’t think it would matter if it was micronized initially because it is fully dissolved. You might be able to email kenogen about it for more specific information. [email protected]
The issue is that almost all utilitarian well-intentioned arguments lead to hell on a long enough timeframe, and efficiency is such a poor argument in comparison to actually owning something.
